Discount on ADSL?

Hi I am at work so no time to read through forums to see if already posted.

I applied to cancel my 1 meg uncapped data only with Telkom, since free upgrade to 2 meg on the lines is just around the corner. I cancelled because I went to Axxess when they said they are also upgrading for free.

So the guy from Telkom just phoned to confirm that I want to cancel my data with them. Here is what he said:

I am getting discount on my current ADSL 1 meg line from R165 down to R124 for being a good customer. I asked whether the R124 will stay the same when the 1 meg is upgraded to 2 meg and he said yes... so 2 meg will be R124?

THEN he said that I must not cancel with Telkom because the R183 I pay for my 1 meg uncapped data will be reduced to R80-something and that it will ALSO be upgraded to 2 meg for free.

So according to him, after all the upgrades, I should be paying R124 + R80-something (I forgot precise amount) for 2 meg line and 2 meg uncapped data. Would be awesome if true.

Anyways I cancelled my Telkom data because it sounded too good to be true.

It is R271 all together with the 25% discount for the 2 meg uncapped after the upgrade so not sure where he got R204 from
 
Telkom retensions offer 25% discount when you cancel, provided you take one of the DoBroadband packages. Moving back to them from AH at the end of this month onto Do Uncapped Basic, saving R25 and getting 2Mb speeds, as AH have not indicated speed upgrades in their uncapped accounts.
 
You cancelled Telkom for Axxess???

A friend of mine called last night fuming.
He's just recently connected with Axxess.
He has downloaded a total of 22gb in 12 days and has officially been placed on a management profile which has reduced his throughput to less than 30kb/s.

:lol: poor guy

He's cancelling for Telkom.

Your logic is horribly flawed.
 
Telkom retensions offer 25% discount when you cancel, provided you take one of the DoBroadband packages. Moving back to them from AH at the end of this month onto Do Uncapped Basic, saving R25 and getting 2Mb speeds, as AH have not indicated speed upgrades in their uncapped accounts.

thinking of doing the same ... hoping that AH will put out a statement soon, but seems unlikely, so will probably cancel for now and see how that plays out!!

Just had a look at AH clientzone, package change options and it says R297 for 1Mbps and R397 for 2Mbps (biz) ... seems like they going to offer the upgrades free after all :) .. good to know, but still a few bob more than telkom.

I applied now for the R514 simple uncapped and asked about the 25% discount, the agent told me that it's a rumour lol

Anyways, my exchange is apparently full so I don't know when I will get my ADSL line installed. I have no telkom line at present

Once your line is activated, call 10210 and go through to the cancellations dept.
Ask for the 25%.

It's not a rumor.
Myself and many others receive the discount.

Like I said in another post somewhere else. I haven't had ADSL for the past 2+ years, so I am out of loop with whats going on. Last time I had ADSL, Telkom was the devil and MWEB was king. Imagine my surprise when it all changed.

Maybe I should have read MyBB while I was connecting my internet through the water pipes the past 2 years ;)

Anyways, price wise, the guy from telkom said that uncapped 2 meg data would be R80, thats the real piece of information here that baffled me.

With regard to Axxess being crap, I have yet to experience it. But I am prepared to do what I did back in the day when I had ADSL. I will hop to different ISP's until I'm happy. The moment that Axxess gives me bad service, I change ISP's, simple as that.

Its like the internet... maklik ek sĂŞ.

Try actually upgrading. You will get an error message. Think that's a glitch in their system tbh.
 
I didn't even phone cancellations, I just find accounts department and asked for the 25percent discount , she did it immediately. It's a 12month contract for anybody who doesn't know, if you cancel it's 10percent of every months payment added together as a cancellation fee
 
so I got my new line installed on the 22nd of November - on the simple uncapped plus package R644.
Can I still get this discount?
 
just tried to signup for telkom simple uncapped and the lady was adamant that I cannot signup until my line has been transferred to them. Asked her to speak to a manager, and the line just rings after that!! So much for improving customer service !!

Anyone else have this sort of problem before?? I never had to wait for the line transfer with any other ISP!!

Telkom does not have a data-only product. What more can we tell you??

I had taken out bundle products with other ISPs and even though the line was still in transfer, they happily signed me up!!

typical telkom, still got all the gov red tape
 
And the discount is not permanent, is it for a finite period. No free lunch
