My wife signed up for the Apple Watch series 3 through the Vitality programme, and we were told to simply collect from an iStore showing proof of activation fee payment (R600).

So before driving to Somerset West and knowing iStore's reputation, I called some central number advertised to check stock, I'm told there is no stock anywhere and to send an email with your details to iStore and they'll be in touch. I did this yesterday but with no receipt or acknowledgement so far. I called the number again today and the person on the other end couldn't tell me if the email was forwarded or if I'm on any kind of list.

So has this happened to anyone else and what was your experience? I really don't trust them to deliver.

Just to update in case someone is wondering, happened to be in Somerset mall today and went into the istore to enquire about this issue. I’ve still not heard anything from istore since the OP, no email, acknowledgement, nada.

So went to an assistant, enquired about stock, he said which one do you want, told him, he went through the back and came out with one.

Says they’ve got lots of stock and he has no idea why someone would say they did not.

Just totally bizarre. What a farce this Core group are. It’s amazing that Apple put up with it.

This has also happened to me. Phone in and they say no stock. Walk in and magically they have any size and colour combination you'd like :D

Same Happened to me last week, their call centre said my branch had no stock of the iMac I wanted.
I went in to the store and it turned out they had loads available.

Don't know why they don't allow direct calls / emails to branches. But this system does not work
