Android or iOS?

I use the app on ipad - easier to deal with the clutter, and haven’t had any lag problems.
Android, there was a lot of negative reviews on the app store recently.

I left fnb, their service has become quite ****.

Personally moved ton Investec, but getting a Discovery CC for a selective transaction account, the Apple Pay is useful but not worth moving banks over. Tap card vs tap phone… whoop.

Without much hoops you still get half decent benefits from the card with fuel and shopping so the worst case scenario is it costs me nothing.

Definitely not bothering with the hoops, cancelled vitality active ages ago as it lost all value. Their insurance is not for me, I checked again this week and they still 25% more at 3x the excess or 50% more if they match the excess.

I have no intention of going to Investec tbh.
I just disabled precise location for them, 3km is good enough.
I did the same thing.

Yes, but even tower triangulation is still a few hundred meters at best. Also they don’t ping you, they always know what tower you are connected to as your phone auto switches and is generally connected to more than one at a time.

It’s got nothing to do with tinfoil hats, it’s about people having unnecessary access to private information. Outside of Geo pay, FNB has no legitimate reason to need to know my precise location, what does it matter where I am within 3 to 5m when making a payment.

They don’t do Apple Pay. Which I love using at the moment.

Only reason I’m keeping mine for now.. though I have every intention to kill it (credit card) as soon as FNB completes Apple Pay integration.

You do you, I moved for the better service, better offerings and lower interest rates.

The fact that I have absolute control over all my transactions is nice too.
What's the the monthly fee on Investec vs Discovery?

lol I wouldn’t even try to compare it on price.
You pay for that service, it’s mind blowing that I can phone the call center at 3am and get sorted out in 30s.
No, I'm not asking for a value assessment/comparison. Of course Investec is better :) .

I was asking what is the monthly fee on Investec? and what it is for Discovery? The fees are on the websites, but I'm wondering what the real world numbers are from someone that has used both as I'm looking at new options post-FNB.

I pay around R400 I think for Investec, but that’s discounted because of my age.

FNB has publicly stated they're interested in Apple Pay and will implement in the future

And then? Why are they this late to the game, when other banks who don't pride themselves on innovation, unlike FNB - have it? Even ABSA support Apple Pay.

I think there’s a lot more factors to it than innovation.
What Investec costs me for 1 month, is more than what the cost of Capitec is for +1 year.

So I have Investec but Capitec is my main account, I don’t go out physically shopping so tap to pay doesn’t really make a big difference to my life.

I also have an account at Nedbank, I wouldn’t mind trying out something like Apple Pay but their service is so bad that I rather not.

It’s 525 all in.

At the moment, I am using my Discovery account for all my day-to-day banking and online subscriptions. So far I have no complaints. Also getting 3.4% on my savings account which is nice and 2.4% on the transaction account.

The rewards are decent enough; allows me to have 100% off my gym membership. So at the moment I am not hating it. The app is nicer to use than FNB's

I'll try it out for a few months and see how I feel about it before I kill off the FNB account completely.

I'd guess they're focussed on innovating for as many customers as possible, and not just the 5% with iPhones
