Discovery Bank

Anyone else getting charged interest on their Discovery Card despite automatically paying the full amount and no cash/EFT transactions?
Last month, yes can't remember the exact figures,my full outstanding amount was R15200 I paid in R15000 so short paid by R200 and was charged like over R250 interest, but someone mentioned in this forum it's because the interest is charged on the full amount (15200) and not the 200 I short paid

I saw your post a bit earlier when checking to see if anyone had seen this before. I have a debit order instruction set up with Discovery to take the full amount at the end of each month, so in theory working out the exact amount shouldn't be my problem. They slapped on the interest for this month, and then I see they generated another interest adjustment charge to charge me interest for last month as well. Waiting for their call center to come back to me with an explanation for what's going on.

Miles are in. Completely random number for me as per usual with Discovery’s calculations. I’ve done 1,800 points (excl. this morning) but got awarded 850.
Mine in too! Corresponds with points for week 25 April - 1 May

It should be the miles for points earned last week

Discovery Bank stated that one would be able to purchase mobile Airtime from the banking app from May onwards. 15% discounted if using Discovery Miles.
This doesn’t seem to be active yet. Any ideas on when it’s going live?

seems loads of people are complaining about being charged big interest penalties on their discovery cards despite full settlement within the up to 55 days' interest free credit.

It is probably not "interest penalties" as opposes to just interest?

This is not something I have noticed, but I make sure to settle the balance (normally on the 7th or 8th) before the 1st of the following month.
Also, payments from the linked transaction account to credit card account is not considered a payment/settlement as it falls under the same credit facility.
Cash and EFT transactions do not qualify for the interest free period, so you will pay interest on those if the account is in debit irrespective of whether you settle the account in full or not.

I cannot see that Discovery would determine this manually, it would be fully automated, meaning an error in the calculation would impact all client and not just some clients.
