Discovery Bank

Why?

I just signed up for my card yesterday. They really need to be clearer about the benefits and boosters attached between the two packages. You only get the gym booster benefit on the top package for the tier - for my tier anyway.
They need to be clearer, have communication, and have working systems.

I would totally use that. I'm getting tired of 36 hour commutes with no lounge access. Thanks. Must check their private wealth criteria. I know I qualified on FNB bit IIRC Nedbank was a bit higher. That was a few years ago tho. What do you pay in fees?
Afaik on my platinum CC I only get local lounges.
For me it was the Amex that gives me the unlimited international vists. I'm on Professional banking only

Basically my reasons for moving are:
  • I won't get 100% back on my gym booster if I don't move (basically the main reason as it will pay for itself);
  • I want to see if the fuel rewards will be better with Discovery than FNB. FNB has really knocked me down on my Ebucks level because I don't have any contracts, bonds, etc with them.
  • The flight discounts, and the international travel insurance look great.

I'm paying more now that I was with the old card and getting less money back, so not covering the cost. I'm also still very confused about the rules for discounts and boosters. And it's still not clear to me how it's decided what account you qualify for - I understand gold, platinum, black is based on income, but why are some people offered the suite and others only cc? I still don't understand the "responsible spending" goals...

I thought signing up would give me the answers I need, but it didn't. I guess I wish I had just waited for things to become clearer before signing up.

Me too ,I'll wait to see what their new miles will be when it comes out otherwise I'm moving to FNB ebucks

I have both a discovery account and an fnb account, so for now I'm trying to play the ebucks game. I'll decide whether to drop Discovery or move salary over to them when rules become clearer and miles come back.

With Std Bank and ucount rewards.

Main benefit is std bank lounge at OR Tambo best one. Fuel rewards etc not great but ok at least.

I got a invite to the bank, but i dont want to commit yet, was wondering what is the:
1. Cheapest and least admin account (so i can play around and see if its actually worth it)
2. Which option of 3 should i choose of the 3 on the welcoming screen
- Credit card or transaction
- Transaction for day to day
- Saving Account

3. Also just signed up to vitality , which account will help me with the most benefit

Vitality Money is its replacement right?
Vitality Money is more like Active Rewards. You get a spin and that's it (for now).
Miles were always more tied to the Card product with your Vitality health only affecting the multiplier status only.

Just read one or two pages on this thread and everything screams don't do it yet. Nothing appears to be clear. We not talking a low cost bank like Tyme. Maybe just wait it out until the dust has settled.

So these idiots want to “hand me” over as im not paying my apple watch penalties the last 2 months.

Problem is , i have made my goal 142 weeks in a row, so no payment due

Secondly even if there was a payment due , they changed my discovery card to a discovery bank card and was suppose to update that.

And there is no one at the call center that knows what to do, bunch of amateurs...

So today I got my second "we are getting ready for you" email. If they are trying to keep me interested, they are starting to lose the battle.
