Discovery Bank

So I'm away. Work travel.
I withdrew some money from my Discovery euro account to be split with some of the guys here.
From the doc it's supposed to cost R80 since I have a Discovery credit card but looks like it was charged in Euros and it'll be €5.99 which is way more.
Is it because of the exchange rate or do I have a case to ask Discovery about?View attachment 1522279View attachment 1522281
ask your private banker

Not entirely sure how to pose this question so here goes.

I'm aware of all the hoopa etc to jump for fnb ebucks etc.

But I'm toying with the idea of shifting to discovery.

Moving all bank, insurance, medical aid etc.

This year I have got my health in order and I'm the healthiest I have ever been. Gym 4 times a week(about 1.25, hours a session) plus pilates (hour) got hrm from 75 to 55 bpm over the last 6 months and dropped from 108.8kg to 97kg, throw in some hiking etc. I'm a "boring" driver etc. Insurance ultra low risk etc. Shop for groceries at ww so got that healthy food thing too etc 90% of our food is fresh fruit and veg.

So my question is is it worth it?

How can I see what I can potentially save etc?

I'm aware that to win you actually need to hit things hard etc but I'm pretty mucb doing that anyway.

I found this group very helpful.

Simple answer, yes.

Longer answer... I made the same switch a few years ago. Was in Discovery Health anyway and Discovery Bank seemed to be the new kid on the block with new age banking features, also for me the banking fees were cheaper than at FNB. As for total savings on fuel, insurance and rewards - yeah, it does add up and will save you in the long run. However I am getting to the point where having the Vitality monkey on my back the whole time is becoming too heavy. I want to turn in at the nearest Sasol around the corner of my house without worrying about loosing out on points/cash back rewards because I din't drive the extra 1km to the nearest BP. I want to train from home or or go for a walk on the beach instead of swiping my card at the gym. I want to not worry about my fitness tracker being broken because now I am missing out on points... and I can go on but I think you get the picture.

I train 4-5 times a week, most weeks, regardless. It's a way of life for my wife and I. We eat healthy anyway but despite this, that ever present cloud over our heads of "are you going to get the points?" is like a ball and chain around your ankle. Besides, you also actually pay for Vitality and can bank with Discovery without it...I'm starting to consider that way.

On a side note, I also seem to remember having more e-Bucks available, more regularly, and easier to spend than what I have Discovery Miles. The latter also not so widely supported at stores either.

Thanks something else to consider too

Seems like Discovery was over allocating some miles. I was shocked to wake up one day and see I had less miles than I did at the last check. A scroll down revealed they had to do some recalculations on card spend.1929235298.jpg

is there anywhere in the discovery bank app to download a "pricing guide" to show the bank fees that apply to your particular account?

Anyone received the 5x miles from a purchase at istore recently?
Trying to understand if it's guaranteed 5x or up to 5x and how it's calculated?
