Discovery Insure Petrol Refund

Reviving the old thread.
Any feedback from Discovery Insure drivers?
I only drive about 1000km a month anyways, and fill up with about R750 worth of Diesel.

I'm thinking of going only third party insurance.
Have a 2004 Mercedes C220 CDi that's paid off and I can afford to lose.
But with buildings and household contents insurance so expensive, I'm considering my options..
Don't want to end up paying R1400 per month for my car, a R2.5m house and R250 000 household contents if I can afford to lose anything but the house itself

I've been using it since August 2013.

August 2013 to August 2014 I received R4269 back.

I don't drive like a hooligan and always spend at least R800 per month on petrol.

R430 in my excess funder account, for what it's worth.

When shopping around for insurance, Discovery's premium was the best (car and 2 households). It escalated by 10% this year, though. Which was not great.

Otherwise I'm pretty happy.

May move that way next year, when I chose my insurer, Alex Forbes was the best due to my profession (actuary), and Santam came second, but without any extras..
Discovery was a close third, and Momentum a bit behind, asked questions like "how many geysers do you have" and "how many dogs over 10kg do you have", which is awesome for people in very secure places, but not for me..

Lesson is to shop around..
