Discovery turned down my application

Doesn't sound right... I also can't see how this would be allowed. We've been on Gen-health (Basic Cover plan - not as Basic as it might sound) for 4 years now, without any hassles. They are extremely reasonable compared to most of the others, and they have decent benefits. Unlimited hospital, as well as good day to day cover, and it is NOT limited to a designated doctor etc. My son has an (expensive!) chronic illness, and they did not exclude his cover, because we've been on medical for more than 3 years prior to application. You might want to give them a try - www.gen-health.co.za

Just got off the phone with Gen-health, spoke to Gugu... As long as you've been a member of a medical aid (including TRANSMED) for the previous two years - and you're under 35, they will not impose a waiting period. They need a membership certificate stating start and end date of membership.

I'm referring to the above.

Post count of two punting the same medical aid.

Why does this look suspiciously like spam

What are you referring to, Xrapidx?

Thanks for the call and posting it here. Looks like Medihelp feels the same. No issue. Thanks Charene.

Edit - Saw xrapidx comment, was also surprise... Benefit of the doubt?

We'll see :D

Glad you got sorted.

Ja, untill Medihelp give me a call next week with an issue (hope not)

I logged a complaint with the Medical Aid Complaints. Here is a number for anyone 0861123267, as it is not on their website.
Medical Complaints

Also left HelloPete messages with both Discovery & Momentum. ;)

If anyone have any advice how to tackle Discovery on this, please let me know. :)

Some banks offer brokerage services that deal with this... I know I had issues with Discovery Life not wanting to cover me when travelling overseas - the financial advisor negotiated with them until we reached agreeable terms (I'm not covered in Afghanistan).

Thanks Kiepie - I was hoping that xrapidx's comment did not refer to my post.
I have been following the thread as a friend of mine is also interested in moving from Transmed to my medical aid, and I wanted to make sure that she wouldn't have any problems, and therefore phoned them. Just felt it would be helpful to post what their response was.
Apart from being a member for the past 4 years, I have no other relationship with the medical aid. I have my own business doing corporate gifts.
Just don't understand why it should be odd / suspicious when others offer help - is that not what we're here for?

Yes - that is what we're here for - you joined and your only posts at the time referred to the same thing. Much like the pattern of many spammers who join the site - I'm sure they would also claim they're trying to help people given the chance - hence it being suspicious.

No problem...
