Bosch, any Bosch… they just don’t break!

The only good thing about Defy is the parts availability when it breaks

The second one looked the same as the first, but was a fancier model with steam function that ended up not fitting our tallest double wall coffee mugs which was irritating – lowering the top shelf would then cause our dinner plates to not fit.

I’m doing a 180’ now and going for the cheapest dishwasher. What would the Serie 6 offer?

In my view the latest Grundig is the best build quality out of the others I tested. But a Bosch Serie 2 is half price, and being frugal can be fun.

Honestly the main benefit for me of the Series 6 is the ability to run and start it on schedules + see usage stats (energy and water used) and create custom wash profiles. If you don't need any of these, go Series 2
 
Anyone have experience with Beko dishwashers?? I know they part of the same group as Defy now - but would appreciate if you share you experience

I cant really. Mine is a desktop one. The OP is looking for a normal sized one. The desktop dishwasher I had to buy to replace the old Swan one that gave up is a Midea. So far so good and it washes well, even on the the 90 Minute program instead of the longer programs. I think they do normal sized machines too.
 
Defy:
Due to the constant cost cutting because the CEO has a passion for expensive sports cars, have a lot of technical problems that cannot be fixed by anything other than a complete re-design. They're not even Chinesium, but I have seen things like under-specced switches, the main contact for the heating element in the programme time switch, burns due to its insufficient current handling capacity. These machines always have issues.

Bosch:
Like older W1 series Benz, they keep going, and going and going and going...

I was considering an entry-level dishwasher. Would have gone Bosch. But there are just too many shortcomings, coming from a higher-end dishwasher. None of the Bosch dishwashers come with a cutlery basket. And the open/close mechanism on the Defy was the best of all. Also, 5-year warranty vs 2 for Bosch.

Yeah, but anyone who's been here longer than a minute would know that everyone would scream "Bosch", so no real point in asking in the first place then.

On that note - I got a LG dishwasher with a drawer. It works well so far.
My primary dishwasher is the neighbours 18 year old daughter though.

The basket sucks anyway or just buy one on Temu for R200.
