So I was impulsive yesterday. I bought a Nespresso capsule machine,, despite all misgivings. The result... blegh...

Back to my old style espresso pot. Nespresso machine is a sunk cost sadly.

Am I doing something wrong?

(and did I spell the title of this post correctly?:wtf:)

Nope, I don't like it either.
I'm more than happy with my current espresso machine thanks.
I returned mine the same day I bought it.

On the basis of what? I don't like the ****ty taste? I'm not sure that counts as a product defect. Or do I have 7 days or something to return it?

Where did you buy it from?

If it was a big retailer, they will probably take it back.

Yes, that's exactly what you take it back for.
You tell them it's crap and you don't like it.
Simple.

I took mine back and said just that.
If it's within the correct time frame then there's nothing wrong with returning a sub par product.

Yip. Just say the coffee is horrible. Most product have some sort of satisfaction guarantee. If all else fails, I'll give you R350. ;-)

I'll take it back then. Should get it right, I have no shame when it comes to dealing with sales/retail people. Hmm... hope the SO did not throw away the packaging.

I have this old style italian espresso pot which one uses on the stove. Excellent quality stuff. Don't get better espresso. Perhaps if I ground my own beans I would improve that quality.

A proper steam Espresso machine with freshly ground beans will beat a pot anyday, you could probably get the entry level DeLonghi for what you paid for the Nespresso.

And it has a steam wand for frothing milk!

Yeah, I think I shall. The SO shall be delighted with another kitchen appliance I'm sure. And seeing as she was a trained barista, problem solved.... ;)

You get entry level machines with a steam wand for under R1000 now.
I have a Breville stainless steel machine that was about R2800.
Best purchase ever.
