There has been a lot of threads related to the dangers of radiation from the IBurst UTD, but one question remains...... "How far is your modem placed away from you?" I keep mine at arms length.

Apparently the modem should be no closer to you than 30cm. I sit at the PC for at least 7 hours a day. Hopefully I'm at a safe distance from it.![]()
The intensity (or illuminance or irradiance) of light or other linear waves radiating from a point source (energy per unit of area perpendicular to the source) is inversely proportional to the square of the distance from the source. An object (of the same size) twice as far away, receives only ¼ the energy (in the same time period). More generally, the irradiance, i.e., the intensity (or power per unit area in the direction of propagation), of a spherical wavefront varies inversely with the square of the distance from the source (assuming there are no losses caused by absorption or scattering). For example, the intensity of radiation from the Sun is 9140 watts per square meter at the distance of Mercury (0.387AU); but only 1370 watts per square meter at the distance of Earth (1AU)—a three-fold increase in distance results in a nine-fold decrease in intensity of radiation.
The radiation will be directed towards the antenna, anyway I don't think anyone has to worry about body parts getting cooked or radiated by the modem, just don't sit on it or you might become sterile.![]()
The modem is basically the same as a cellphone. I've read that doctors don't recommend sleeping with your cellphone close by. We sleep about 8 hours a day, the exact same time that most of us spend next to our modems. So doesn't this mean that we shouldn't sit close to them?![]()
Depends on how you define thatif you have an external antenna then where does the RF radiation get generated?
I think you're worrying too much about nothing.
Depends on how you define that..on one hand, the modem is generating its RF internally; OTOH the actual radiation is appearing at the other end of the co-axial cable to which said antenna is connected.
so the hair falling out and glowing green eyes is related to the dodgy food i ate at a cafe in a rush?
heh.
No the hair falling out is from old age and the glowing green eyes are from popping too many pills.
I would be far more worried about the radiation from the basestations and cell phone towers than the puney arials on the end units.
