DuckDuckGo is going to be a noticeable step down for most people, who are used to convenient business cards when Googling for stuff.
If you want to step away from Google, I recommend Microsoft. They're still a Silicon Valley titan but I trust them way more than Google.
The new Edge browser is phenomenal. And the mobile one is great too and has built-in ad blocking. So you get the benefit of Webkit rendering on desktop and Chromium rendering on mobile, without dealing with ads on either platform and retaining access to your bookmarks.
Bing isn't bad if you really want to ditch Google's search engine. I personally find Google way better at everything though when it comes to search.
Office 365 is ridiculous value if you're a Windows user, and will automatically take you out of much of the Google ecosystem:
- Outlook email app
- Office desktop apps, no more need to access Gmail web app or Google Docs
- Microsoft calendar rather than Google Calendar
- Microsoft To Do is the best to-do app I've come across. Totally free, looks awesome, has collaboration features and cross-platform sync
- 1TB OneDrive storage, no need for Google Drive or Google Photos
Onedrive is MUCH better than google drive, trying to GET everyone I know using it now.
1TB included with office subscription... live online office docs editting, it's unbeatable.
Google drive backup and sync software is just constantly frozen and chows CPU when it decides it needs to recheck all your thousands of files!
I concur. I love OneDrive and the way it integrates with Windows 10. Upload speeds used to be a deal-breaker, but that was fixed early 2018 if I recall. I get max upload speed now for ages.
Mega is better than dropbox.
Yea those not worthwhile alternatives there is a reason Google is number one.
BTW, Mega is better than google/dropbox/m$
Why is Mega better? Unlike all mainstream cloud storage providers, Mega places a bandwidth cap on all accounts equal to the size of the account.
It could well be because those users were using a free account, but every time I download a shared file from Mega the download speed sucks balls.
Also, for the same monthly price, Microsoft will give you 1TB OneDrive storage plus all the latest Office apps.
