I am thinking of ditching DSTV completely...

can someone please point me to a site that will assist me with getting the movie / series / media type setup going. needs to be very step by step though :D

TIA

T

Congratulations on getting rid of "devious tv" as my son likes to call it. 6 year olds will inherit the earth I tell you :D

As for your setup, I wish I could help but that is a bit beyond my level of expertise.

Step 1 - Cancel DSTV
Step 2 - Buy Chromecast
Step 3 - Plug Chromecast into TV
Step 4 - Download management software from playstore
Step 5 - Install Netflix
Step 6 - Watch movies

Enjoy. :) I did the switcheroo end of December.

step 0. have a decent internet connection and enough cap to cover your streaming needs

step 1. get a device that can run Kodi (rasbery pi, mini PC, or whatever.)

step 2 install Kodi

step 3 add excedus add on for kodi

step 4. be overwhelmed by the choices and lack of ads. kidding.

congratulations on getting rid of DSTV.

does this include free content  as i dont really watch that much TV anymore

there is a Evin Anister character here that is always posting this "breaking tech news" stories about DSTV and if anyone calls them on it then get infractions....

KODI itself does not allow you to do anything that can be deamed as piracy, it is a system that allows you to manage your own files and play them on the device selected.
in order to make the management and watching of your own files easier, Kodi has allowed third party support tos build add ons.

Excecdus is a Kodi add on (not an official KODI product no legal problem for Kodi) that allows you to find streaming sources on the internet and stream them directly to your Kodi system without downloading it first.

cool, i've got a chromecast already....

seems easy enough.

It is very easy. You install the management software on your phone, along with Netflix. The management software will automatically pick up that you have Netflix and will allow you to cast it to your Chromecast as long as you are on the same wifi network.

I presume that "anyone" excludes you... seeing as you don't have any infractions?

I do have one.
Consideting all the things that I have said on my time on this forum it is insulting that I got this infraction for stating facts with proof of that then got deleted

But the infraction point was removed later that day. So that might be why you don't see it on my profile

Nope - sent you a PM - hope it clears things up for you.

This +100.Havnt downloaded anything in a while and it feels weird having not to constantly make space on the laptop.:D

You don't need Kodi if you have a chromecast. In fact , that whole set up to get Kodi , etc is literally a waste of time.

Even if you have Samsung Smart TV, you don't need Kodi, Firestick, Apple TV. Any video on that internet can be streamed on Chromecast/Samsung tv.

Same here. I even sold my media server, no need for it any more.
