Diving Equipment? (pref in Cape Town)

Hi All

As the subject says, where can I buy diving equipment in the Cape Town area? I actually just need to outfit the family for snorkelling, but I know it's best to try on masks and stuff, especially for kids sizes.
Hence I'd rather not buy online.

Any recommendations?

Depends where you are, or are going to be. At Rabitech, speak to Louis. They're in Stikland. They stock everything for beginners to serious spearo's and freedivers. One stop shop.

In Fish Hoek, go to Great White Sport and Surf. Incorporates Wetsuit Warehouse. Decent prices and a wide variety.

Snorkelling no. Scuba yes. I only really dive when I travel though. Water around here is k@@@@k cold. And usually not so clear.

Depends entirely on how deep you want to get in. Scuba aside, you'll get away cheaply if you're just going to have the odd snorkel inside the bay.

For a half hour in the water between A-frame and Castle Rock, you'll need a pair of cheap fins, a mask and a snorkel. You have fairly clear days with warmish 18 degree water, so no suit required.

Different story if you want to drift Cape Point for 3 hours for yellowtail. Good kit will set you back R10-R15k.

Where are good places to snorkel ? i had a great time snorkelling at boulders beach. I dont know of much other places around cape town

Rabitech's your best bet. Louis has some Rabitech masks that my kids use that are really well priced. Couple of spearo's I know use them as well without complaints.

Dude, I swam for years at Mnandi, blue waters and pavilion beaches. Never liked the former whites only beaches, too cold. All Cape Town Coloureds knows the False Bay beaches.

The sand on the road completely put me off those beaches.

I'll probably only try and evade capture to those beaches if a sniper with an R4 and arthritis in his trigger finger was trying to take me out.

Started going to the Atlantic seaboard beaches for the 'wildlife' when I was at that impressionable age. Got used to them so now they're my preferred hangout. But any beach works for me - love the water.

Great thanks. Good to have a brand recommendation. Was hoping not to rely on my limited knowledge and end up with some unecessarily high-end stuff at high-end prices.
