Hi Guys...

I work on an abalone farm and get my hands in the water (seawater) pretty much the whole day.... I'm not diving, just stucking my hands in the water.
What i'm looking for is a watch that can handle this, i dont want to worry about taking it off when i stuck my hands in the water at work, or jump in the pool with my kids at home or stepping into the shower.

I looked at Suunto's Core All Black and at Polar's AXN300... I like bulky watches!!! :erm:

Any input and advice on what watch i should concider would be appreciated.
Thanx :)

Any 50m or 100m rated watch should do. Even Casio digital cheapies would work.

Shucks, these are very good watches and i definitely wouldn't mind having 1 of them, but would you mind paying for them. They seem pretty expensive...

I can buy you a chinese knockoff version :D

What is your budget?

Seriously, any 50M/100M watch or even a water resistant one would do the trick.

Thank you for getting me to browse through some watch pr0n, it's been awhile! :D ..so, two questions:

- budget you're ok to go to (..and willing to scavenge for should it come to it)
- the watch face: a REAL face with hands on a dial, or a wrist-worn instrument with digits 'n shit ..or, reasonably, a combo?

As an example, how does the Outgear AMW-710-1A -at all of an indicated R939- grab your fancy?

So you can browse there, go to the watches page and select your elimination criteria; I selected for:
- 50m
- 100m
- 0-R2000 price range

And why Casio? Well, JARRE back (in the late 80s when I learned to dive) I got a Casio dive watch at (then) Natal Wholesale Jewellers (now NWJ & countrywide) in the Durban CBD. I've still got it, and just as soon as I get a new battery in there, I'll wear it again.

OT: just LOOK at the oh-MY mask I found while hunting around: the PROEAR 2000! A snip:
PROEAR 2000™ is the world's only practical ear protector for divers, designed and developed by diving physicians, engineers and instructors in order to enhance diver safety and comfort.

PROEAR 2000™ unique design and performance, allows divers to keep their ears dry, thereby improving diver comfort and preventing painful ear problems Models available: ProEar 2000, ProEar Corona, ProEar Mondeo.
A review here; and ..*cough*.. some mask pics! :D

Why not get a really cheap watch and just replace it when it breaks? Working in salt and around rocks etc I reckon any watch is going to take a beating. YOu could get a suunto or polar or similar to wear when not at work.

my suggestion is get yourself a casio g-shock. there's a range of models at different prices and they really handle the pace.
the one I've got has taken some serious punisment over the last 3 years or so, without a problem. (It's my backup dive-watch, I use it fishing, waterskiing, mountain biking, hiking)

This is a hot-plot! Buy cheap but sufficiently ‘cool’ that you are not continually hiding your wrist. You also want something that won’t look out-of-place at that black tie ambassadorial function.

Just go and buy a Seiko, pretty good watches. Citizen, Timex, Victorinox should also have something decent at a ok price.
