MP3 players and similar devices are all good and well, but sometimes you may want to be able to share the enjoyment of your music with your friends.

Music-capable mobile phones (which is pretty much all of them, these days) are all good and well, but their sound quality invariably leaves much to be desired. At times like this, you can hook up your MP3 player or phone to a hi-fi or something similar – except when you’re out and about, on a picnic, or for some other reason there isn’t a speaker system around. Then it is quite handy to have something portable.

Granted, a compact device like this one won’t bring the roof down, but certainly it can deliver adequate sound. The iTour Pop accomplishes this, and does so in a neat and very portable package. It is a powered speaker, meaning that it needs to be charged between uses. This you do by connecting it to a PC via a USB cable. No data is transmitted – the connection is purely to draw power from the PC.

An indicator light at the bottom shows when the unit is powered in blue, and glows red when it is charging. Aesthetically, this device is quite slick: it is rounded and compact when packed up, but when in use, you press down on its surface to disengage a spring-loaded mechanism that ’pops it up‘, revealing the power switch.
