hi all
I have taken the plunge and decided to upgrade to adsl (amidst all the controversy)
The 3 week wait is going to kill me - but I decided to phone a friend of a friend who is a techie for telkom.
He said the backlog is about a mile long (which is not news really) - but that I should just go to my nearest customer services branch and ask for a diy installation kit. So there I go - only to be greeted by some bulldog that can hardly string a sentence together in english!
I was blue in the face by the end of it all - so the techie says it's possible to do it yourself - and she says sorry she doesn't know anything about it!
My question is this though - how difficult can it really be to install the service. Honestly I already have a seperate jack in my study (from my dialup days) - and the modem, microfilter ect! Surely it's just a matter of activating it on some main frame somewhere!
Perhaps somebody that's had a line installed could explain it to me!
