DJs Threads

I know, I have timecodes and an audio card.. and turntables, i havent touched my turntables since i bought the controller
But really, if you have a controller you dont have to worry about having to deal with the all too often surprise of broken equipment

also, a cdj is not any closer to vinyl than a controller, the only benefit i see is not having to lug around a controller

What's a decent controller then?

Cant really speak for the other brands but i love my Denon, it's solid, and put in a lot of hassle free hours

Have you got a link? The local Denon site doesn't have any DJ equipment listed.

Any comments on JB System Kontrol 3? Looks like a decent controller. My choice is gonna come down to that or Numark Mixtrack Pro.

My friend has been working as a DJ in one of the best organizations and sometimes he would discuss about DJ music with me. During our conversation he told me about different combination of tunes makes a new tune. He said that there are many ways to get variation in music with suitable combination of music instruments.

I'm looking at getting a mixer for my PC that i can use with Virtual DJ and Traktor, but dont know where to start looking for the best deals. I'm not looking for the top notch brands as i'm only starting out, but want something that is good and reliable to start on. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

A Mixer? Or a Controller? I would think you're referring to a Controller is your primary source of the sound is software based.

There are tons of controllers out there, it really depends on the budget you have at hand. And in terms of the software (not that I use any), I am leaning towards Traktor (since I've checked out most others) and would suggest something that is compatible with that.

A friend was sampled to start playing around with a product from Reloop "Jockey 3 ME", which is quite an interesting tool compared to other in it's price range. Have a look at the reloop site, as they have more affordable controllers as well and a host of other products on their site.

If I decide to buy one, it would be that. :)

Assuming you're talking about a dj controller.

Numark mixtrack pro - comes with traktor le but can work with virtualdj too.R2500 estimate.Best for the buck.

Also have a look at the decent MIXXX dj software,it is open source.Midi map files for mixtrack pro can be downloaded from their forum.

Yeah, is it a mixer or a controller you want? Cause if your just referring to a mixer for the computer, do you mean something like this?

Hi Guys, thanks for your suggestions! After reading your replies, i think it's actually a controller that i'm looking for...

I have Traktor and Virtual DJ at home and would like to make house and trance mixes but just cannot do it with the mouse and still make it sound nice (obviously).

I'd still recommend that carstendj look at the reloop stuff. And also at Numark stuff, and I can be very sure I know what they'll come back fascinated by. I mean Pioneer has some as well, but they ask for Kidneys in exchange for their gear... :-)

If that's all you want to do then there's other more suitable options for you.

Mixmeister - Just add your tracks to the timeline and export to 1 long file or with markers,so if you burn it to cd it is non stop but you can change tracks. It's not free but obtainable from torrents or usenet,if you feel comfortable with that.:)

Mixpad - Something similar with free version.
