I have a D-Link DSL-2750U and would like to have multiple accounts, so for example my Afrihost free gig account as well as my main account. Now I came across this thread while searching for a solution and the following information was given:

I assumed that it would allow me to add a set of secondary ADSL account details so I went in and added to the details only to discover that it wouldn't allow me to set the VPI to 8 Any other number other than 8 so I am assuming my original ADSL account settings which use the same VPI settings has exclusive rights to it.

Nope. The D-Link firmware does not allow you to setup different ISP profiles, because the VPI/VCI combination needs to be unique.

Now I don't know if it was by sheer luck or if I broke it, but I managed to get it working with both VPI set to 8:

But as you can see, they are both marked as connected. What does this mean? is it drawing data from both accounts simultaneously?
Is there a way to only allow one at a time

Haha, i've never seen that happen before :D

Two things:

Firstly, I would use a PPPOE Pass-Through to do what you require. Tell me if you need more info on how to do this (I do it on my DSL-2750u). A pass-through is when you connect to different PPPOE accounts from the computer - not the router

Secondly, please go to the status page and post/pm me a screenshot - that will tell you if they are both being used :D

Thanks, I will look into pass-through. If its too complicated I will certainly give you a shout.

So after experimenting, by taking screenshots at different times, this is what I have found:

So it looks like I am just using the first connection.

if you look at the OP image, it says a maximum of 8 connections can be configured, but what's the point if only one works and you cant disable them? I dont get it.

I really need to see if both are receiving IP addresses, as that can tell us whether they are both actively being used. I think the max of 8 connections is referring to connections on different VPI/VCI's

cool I'll pm you the screen grab

So just for anyone following this, it looks like both are connected and the second is more than likely a fail safe in case the first line goes down. Interesting. Thanks to Zertop for the insight.

Workaround is to configure each connection alone and save the config file for each to separate files.

When you need to swap connections, just load the config file. It's not much slower than a router reboot.

That's a great idea

Very clever! I would never have thought of that

Hi All

It seems their is a second way.
I have been doing it all a long.
Cut and past.
PPP Username xxzzz.dsl.co.za
PPP Password 1234xx
Confirm PPP Password 1234xxx

Press next key
Press apply.

Also works that is how I swap between two accounts.
So what you do is high light the one account you want to use.
Press next key and press apply. Correct.
