Hi,

I have 2 choices in router/modem - it will be a 1 port ethernet modem.

Should I go for the DLink or Netgear 1 port modem?

Please let me have the pros and cons (advantages vs disadvantages) or both.

Regards
Aharon

Well you didnt give any model numbers but both of them will do what you need but I find netgear to be more reliable - I had more problems with DLink routers konking out.
But they are both good brands.

Agree - both are good brands - I've currently got a D-Link DSL-2650U and it's great! No issues...

Think you should go with Netgear (judging by the way you pose questions) - Netgear's user interface is the easiest to understand and you will quickly become comfortable with the configuration of your router.

dlink is slightly harder to set up, netgear straight forward. But like everyone says both good brands. Only issue i have with the D-link one is like Ry4n said it tends to atleast give once out. But i believe it just bad batches should be fine now.

I found the D-Link router setup very straight forward and its easier to change between bridge mode and PPPoE connections with the D-Link routers.
I'm currently running a 1 port D-Link DSL-2500U in bridge mode :)

I love my Dlink2640-u , but it has buggered out on me a few times.
I blame the filter that comes with the router, i swear its inferior to a telkom filter as after yanking it in and out it works like a charm.

+1 to Netgear as well. My DG834G is coming up on 6 years now and it has never given my an ounce of trouble. D-Link on the other hand, I'm yet to have good experiences with.
Btw, what's the model number of the Netgear modem and where are you getting it from?
