DNA ancestry tests tested

Till DNA tells you some that someone who passes the pencil test has ancestors that are also your ancestors. Then your by the fifth beer intelligence fades away...
You think we have accurate DNA samples of people who lived thousands of years ago?

Can you get a UK visa with this?

If not, what is the point?

No sh-t Sherlock. I couldve easily told you where you come from without you even asking, depending what your surname is, it takes minutes to trace it through.

If you came from Europe you were even Dutch (traders/sailors) or German (Soldiers). You see the Germans were great soldier but poor, the Dutch good traders and great at building boats, but they needed soldiers to they used the Germans up to the Polish. If your family were persecuted for being non-Catholic there is a chance you may have come from the Hugenot's. Not many French came here. After that it was all British when they invaded and took over from the Dutch, which lead to them chucking Dutch out of all language books, schools etc and switching it to English only, thus causing the Great Trek. To which they happily attacked the Free State and Transvaal for the Gold and Diamonds to pay for their wars in the East (Opium War - when they took land from China - Now Hong Kong).

Portuguese and Spanish if you were from one of their colonies ie Mozambique, Brazil and Angola but eventually fled here.

If you were Chinese your family probably fled their Civil War, which led to a huge influx of Taiwanese here.

Its really not complicated.

You can claim Citizenship based on your grandparents in most countries, with Russian going back even more to the Imperial Era (Tzar). However the Dutch is the only one that doesnt allow it. Your parents needed to have stayed in the Netherlands in the past 15 years or you dont qualify, they are trying to make it 10.

But then the Dutch has done it on purpose to get rid of a lot of their citizens. My one great-grandparents came here in the 1900s on holiday, and they died leaving 6 kids orphans in SA. When they asked to return to the Netherlands the Dutch Government immediately removed their citizenship and left them here and took all the property in the Netherlands (all the art when to the Rijksmuseum). A bunch of thieves they were.

So nope, wont ever go back to the Netherlands, but Russia has offered us citizenship straight as we were there during the imperial era, before the founding of the V.O.C
Lol, so what about the slaves which came from all over (West Africa, South East Asia, the Americas etc) who all mixed with the local coloured groups when slavery was abolished. Hint surnames: Januarie, Februarie etc. was the month the slave ancestor landed in Cape Town, when they had enough of those surnames, the Greek names were used as surnames: Hector, Adonis, Hercules etc. DNA testing would be fascinating and more useful than you think.

All these work well with people with European ancestors. These sites don't have enough Asian reference data to be useful.

Added to in India there was so few mixing between castes that a low caste family who lived in the same village as family a high caste family for for over a 1000 years have the same amount of genetic difference between a Portuguese and a Finnish person. People where may more likely to breed with a person living 1000s of km in the same caste than a person living next door who is a different caste.

R2350! For now I'll just be content knowing one of my ancestors was a gold smuggler and the other was a ginger. Apparently the ginger was very "free" and I have a good few unknown relatives.

Wait it's that expensive!! My word just to be told you're a white dude, lmao. Even if the test said he was mexican what would that benefit? R2350 just to be told a random thing with no utility

Like let's say I get tested and to my surprise i'm 90% Vietnamese.... ummm so? I mean what am I going to do with that information? Or let's say i'm a black dude and they tell me i'm from Africa? Really? Africa you say?

Goes to show you, if you put it up for sale someone will buy it.

People conveniently forget, the Dutch also used their own from the lower classes as slaves.

According to documents my ancestors from the Netherlands was Dutch slaves born in VOC captivity, ie: owned by the VOC.
And from the many papers I’ve read, majority slaves ended up marrying Khoi / Malay / Angolan, etc to name a few.
And to an extent that’s why many ended up settling in Africa without considering going back to NL at the time.
Here they could break free from being EU slaves (as well as their non-EU spouses) and finally have some land and trade / live freely.

Wild times if you think about it, but at the same time super interesting when you dig into it.

If the R2350 came with a sweeet tender that would be money well spent indeed! Lets call it a "processing fee" if you see where i'm going with this... *wink

Although I would like to know my ancestry, but for that kind of money, I have more important priorities right now. I know I have European ancestry, I know I have Khoisan ancestry. But further than that, it is a big unknown. So I am I interested, yes, but am I willing to pay R2000 + for it, no.

Well pay yourself R2350 because that's pretty much what the test will tell you then.

Everyone: What place do I come from?
Me: What places can I add to this bloodline:ROFL:

There's an easier and cheaper method.

Look at birth certificate. If it reads, for example, born in Durban, then you 100% African.
Is Juju capable of reading birth certificates and comprehending them?

This should settle the land debate once and for all. I joke, I joke! Easy now. As you were
That's far too optimistic a joke.

Maybe DNA test reports can help settle the multitude of gender confusion cases out there (where confused people aren't sure what they identify as and are incapable of interpreting what they're seeing when they look down at their own junk).

I'd be curious to get some details on my lineage...but not that curious to pay those prices

For now though, I'm pale enough to know that I'm definitely not descendant from the subcontinent or northern Africa

So, how much Neanderthal?

My test said "less than 0.1%"
There is a category for this

A Spanish friend who lives in Bilbao was told she had an "0.9% attribution similar to that assumed to be Neanderthal." Seeing they died off in that general area over 150 000 years ago, there was not much influence. She is an Oriental languages Professor at the University so is not deficient in the brains department

The colour of your skin matters not even if you originate from Central Africa. 20 000 years living in a northern climate will change that to a Caucasian tone
