Yeah, yeah - I know they've been having problems yesterday and today with international links, however I can't even get to some local sites while some international ones work just fine!

Try getting to www.google.com [:(] I can't LIVE without my bloody Google! [xx(]

Initial investigation points to DNS issues... anyone else having problems?

Usually when interntional is down i cant get myadsl for some reason ?

But now I can , but not one international since this morning

yip indeed they are not correctly configured ... as there international is farqued there dns was bound to stuff up ...

see http://www.myadsl.co.za/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4333 where i shot myself in my only foot putting faith in them ... ive gone back to useing IS/UUNET/SAIX

here is a further gotcha ... as there transparent proxies use there DNS you wont be able to get to local sites either once timed out...

oh the beautifull service ...

I support:
www.telkom.fokkensuig.co.za
www.poopband.co.za
www.hellkom.co.za

Basically, .co.za doesnt mean hosted locally. the myadsl forum is hosted overseas. as is supersport.co.za which I was trying to get to. Pure local sites did work during the outage.

it does not matter where the site is if the DNS record expires [even if it is reachable] you will not reach it ... there are 13 root dns servers in the world all outside south africa that is why a ISP must ensure DNS redundancy at all times ... ive even used a isdn dialup to MWEB to keep the DNS running when we had a major out
