Okay

I currently have a 384 line and a telkomsa 3 gig internet account this used to be around R500...

Now with the Do Broadband 4 meg line and 3 gig cap it will cost like R550...

Now this sounds great, I want to know, if I change to dobroadband, do I still keep the same email adress and login information or does this change?

Is do broadband and telkomsa different? ISP?

Also how many concurrent connections does do broadband support? And is do broadband also soft cap? Like telkomsa... You know its suppose to be a 3 gig cap, but they kind of cap you at 6/7 gigs? (See this one has been answered in other thread, thx)

Also if you get capped with do broadband can you still, use like webafrica etc. (stupid question, probably but jsut need to make sure) I mean does Webafrica Prepaid offer 4 meg speed?

Also seeing as I have everyting installed etc. (Already have DSL) will it have a installation cost?

Thx if anyone can help me out with this.

O forgot to ask this aswell...

I have a 24 month contract signed (To get the free modem, etc.) Will switching to do broadbrand break the contract? I mean it's still telkom?

Upgrading to 4Mbit didn't break the contract for me (eventually got it sorted out), but DoBroadband is quite different to just upgrading line speed, so I have a feeling it would be breaking the contract. Good luck though.

My contract expires this month I think, also going for 4Mbit DoBroadband ;)

Ahh no - you signed a contract with the beast! With self installs now they give away free modems :)

I've also got a feeling signing up with Do will break the contact.

So anyone else :) That can maybe put a stop to my worries, rather then just make me worry more... :D

AFAIK if you upgrade to a 4 meg line telkom would automatically switch you to the Do Broadband 3 option (that is what their consultant told me and seems to have happened in my case). Currently the 3 gig account is capped at 6 gig and yes you can still use WA etc. There should not be any additional charges at all and your logon and email address does not change. Do Broadband 3 supports 2 concurrent connections.

I also have a 384 line with 3 gig cap i just want to ask if i upgrade 2 the 4 meg dobroadband line what is the total cost? do i only pay R554 or do i still need 2 pay line rental and if i do how much does that cost?

Welcome Splendid,

You'll have to pay R554 + normal telephone line rental. So will be about R665 total.

hehe nah probly not pretty kewl site helps alot so its just R665 a month no other hidden telkom costs?

Ill let you guys know how it went... :P

Gonna take the leap of faith I think, if my exchange supports 4 meg... Also might get local bandwidth so I can use that routesenty program to route my bandwidth? Or something like that.

You know. I was thinking. The Telkom DO advert is not misleading at all. It says "Do movies like never before"... But this is true. We are used to watching a whole movie. Now, if you start downloading, you'll get half way, and your cap will run dry :)

Yes it is a unique experience I suppose:mad:

ok so i went to convert my 384 with the 3gig cap to the dobroadband 4meg line and they said they are unable 2 do this anyone here that has actaully done done or am i screwed till the contract expires?

I had no problem at all when I upgraded my 384 supreme line to a 4 meg line. I confirmed with the consultant that I would be paying the do broadband 3 rate of R554 plus line rental and that seems to be what is being charged. Also when I initially applied for ADSL 384 supreme I was told that I could upgrade at no cost at any stage. There is however a fee if you downgrade from a higher package to a lower package of about R235

Ok... Going to call them on friday... seems like there is mixed results.

Whats the best number to call to get this sourt of thing sourted?
