Do Climate Skeptics Change Their Minds?

Love the climate pseudoscience links, but back in the real world.. its as simple as this:

"The controversy is significantly more pronounced in the popular media than in the scientific literature,[1][2] where there is a strong consensus that global surface temperatures have increased in recent decades and that the trend is caused mainly by human-induced emissions of greenhouse gases. No scientific body of national or international standing disagrees with this view,[3][4] though a few organisations hold non-committal positions.

I'm debating government solutions not AGW, and I'm questioning how we know for sure exactly what effects AGW will have on the planet. THAT is what affects political policy decisions and THAT is what impacts my life, not some wiki article or scientific journal saying the planet is warming. How does that affect me, when will it affect me, to what degree will it affect me, and if you suggest intervening, how will that solve the problem and what are the potential consequences of that on my life.

Wouldn't that be your question?

Its like me and religion. I don't care what you believe in as long as it doesn't affect my life. The minute you try impose your will on my, I have a problem with that.

(I see you didn't bother with the youtube link, probably best series on climate change I have seen, brought to you not by al gore or the state, but by free market forces!)

Sigh, so hard to make resonable discussions that mean anything. Woop die woop so science stands behind your belief in AGW, does that miraculously make you entitled to FORCE it on others, NO! THAT IS MY ISSUE!

The simple matter is the proposed solutions fall into the realm of ECONOMICS which you clearly don't understand and physical scientists who are used to mathematical and statistical data would almost certainly not understand AT ALL unless they reject the methods they are familiar with when dealing with economic problems.

Government intervention has negative consequences. Period. Does global warming outweigh this, what about people, I mean essentially we are saying the industrial revolution was a GIANT mistake as it caused all this, so do we all want to go back into living day by day in poverty (Relative to our current conditions?) because that would be logical and incredibly inhumane.

You have no answers to all the economic problems. This is the issue many people you like to label as loony skeptics ask...yet this is an issue you cannot answer. To what degree to you feel ENTITLED to intervene in my life to "save the world"?

Let me make one thing clear for Wizard, there are valid scientists, that is to say scientists who are experts in climatalogy and related fields who do oppose AGW. But they very very few in number.

The simple reality is, science, is for all intents and purposes 100% clear on AGW and global warming.

But when you get a skin rash, you don't go see a climatologist to say what the solutions are, and how they will affect you. You go to a doctor, or more precisely a skin doctor.

When you want to understand the economic effects of public policy on people, you go to an economist, NOT a climatalogist.

Yes global warming will affect us, it already is affecting us, but state intervention rarely solves the problems they try to solve.

Private solutions, that is to say the free market solutions, I believe will solve our problems, not the political class.

The youtube link I gave earlier is the first in a series of videos on AGW, the controversy, al goriesm, the media, the skeptics, what science actually says and more importantly the hype that is caused by the media and celebrities alike.

Ironically it backs AGW 100%, WATCH IT.

Forget quote posting wiki articles, the series is better than any documentary or article I've seen or read on global warming. In fact I would sticky it as an introduction to any global warming debate on the science of global warming, however it is NOT an expert analysis of climate change policy, I'm into video 11 and it hasn't even mentioned it.

There are even more biologists who doubt evolution... you get tinfoil hat people in all fields.

Even the AGW guys give these skeptics credibility because their ideas are good. They just don't agree with them. You are blowing it out of proportion and saying that anyone who disagrees is a nutter.

Actually I said "lunatic fringe". Thats what they are. They dont even make up 0.5% of the scientists out there so they cant be considered even fringe science.
