Nope and you don't have to do it as your main job.Are you Roger Goode?
There are very few guys in SA who can do it as a main job for many years unless you are one of the more famous guys.

There are plenty of fake DJ's out there but many others are doing amazing things with live sampling etc...Today's DJs are exactly what DJ Khaled is... They do absolutely nothing but queue the music and say something over the mic.
Now that was boring....These guys are quite fun to watch as well.
Still one of my favourite videos
DJ using wireless and no power equipment.
Perfect for loadshedding parties as no power needed.
Cable are still way more reliable. Having been involved in booths, if a cable goes wrong then its a quick swop out.Why don’t they actually build wireless digital setups? I mean the decks are within decent proximity and FOH could get a digital signal or is the latency too rough?
It would save these events a lot on cabling jobs.
I think both are good. Cable can also be unreliable. Wireless as backup. Guitarist now use wireless live on stage as well these days.Cable are still way more reliable. Having been involved in booths, if a cable goes wrong then its a quick swop out.
If a player goes down its a quick unplug and swop.
I've been in situations where we have to change equipment mid set and I can only imagine the horror of having to resync wireless connections with possibility of something not wanting to connect.
Also latency could become an issue, especially during mixing even if its a few milliseconds.
It would be like when you have latency issues on your midi equipment due to buffer in studio.
Less chance though on a dj setup as one is not running around on the stage with a CD Player and mixerI think both are good. Cable can also be unreliable. Wireless as backup. Guitarist now use wireless live on stage as well these days.

Oh man, that's nothing. Back in the day we use to mix seamless with cd players with no memory buffer. You hitting play and the music actually starts was miles apart, but we made it work by hitting play half a second too soon, then use the pitch bend to make any adjustments. Also latency could become an issue, especially during mixing even if its a few milliseconds.

Goodness the amount drugs involved there.....There are plenty of fake DJ's out there but many others are doing amazing things with live sampling etc...
I love live music with singing and instruments but nothing gets a crowd going like a good DJ.
This is one of my goto video's at the moment:
