Do I have a case against Vodacom

Besides for the disk space? It's sides are blue instead of grey. Otherwise not much that I know of....

It does. It has 8gb written on the front. That's what confusese the salesman in the shop and causes him to tell me "uh. it says 8gb but its actually only got two gb inside".

Btw. The guy from Vodacom called me today with some story about how for quality reasons Vodacom are still testing the N81 8GB. Apparently there are software issues and he had no idea when it would be OKed for SA use. He asked me if I want a different phone?

Not sure I should go easy on these guys. I mean after all the lies and false advertising, you'd think I'd at least be offered something for my trouble...

The real phone wont have 8Gb written on it and 2Gb inside.
The dummy might have 8Gb written on it and definatley has nothing inside.
Ask for a N95 or N82 for their mistake.
Also how did they quote you? You cant quote people on phones that dont exist. Does your quote say 8GB or SD?

There was no written quote. I called into the call-centre and asked about the price of the handset on that contract. When they said it was free, I decided to take the upgrade. I specifically said N81 8GB and the supervisor repeated that code to me. Being an informed customer I generally read up on these things. I don't mistake SD for 8GB, neither should sales people or the supervisor of Vodacom Business Solutions. The supervisor even told me it would be free and that I could pick it up from any shop the next day.

That same supervisor finally called me back today with a story and asked me which phone I would like (perhaps someone notified them of this thread).

On Monday I will ask for the N82 or N95 8GB. If they don't perhaps I can pursue further action.
