Do i have a fine ?

I registered with Paycity.......
What an irrational thing to do. WHY? Are you a masochist? It is the duty of the authority to inform you of alleged transgressions and serve you duly in terms of the law. If they don't, it has nothing to do with you, just ignore it.

How well will this hold up in real life circumstances. If i ignore it, things could get worse ? Ignoring it does not make the problem go away. Eventually you get summoned to court whether you see the ticket that was sent to you or not, ignoring the court case, they come take away your movable possessions.

Here is the simple rule of thumb.... ignore ALL fines until you go to pay your vehicle licence disc.
Then only pay those fines that are outstanding/adjudicated/handed over (or whatever) absolutely necessary in order for you to get your vehicle licence disc.
Continue to ignore all the others.

It's held up for me for 54 years.
I only pay the fines I need to pay to keep driving.
It's a money making racket... just like the etolls. Has nothing whatsoever to do with justice or law enforcement.

I registered with Paycity and found 4 fines in my name.
I think I spotted your mistake..

I've not paid a fine since 2009, listen to the advice you'll be fine, the post 1994 traffic dept is a scam just like guava mint..

facepalm...Can i still ignore it if i registered with paycity ?

Yes

If you signed for a fine, or if you receive summons, or if you need to pay a fine to renew a vehicle license, you pay the fine (and even then, some of them can be reduced by asking nicely).

If none of these, ignore them.

Make them work for the money.

Thank you.
Ok i will provide some more information.
I received 3 out of the 4 fines through the post, they were posted to an adress i no longer live at, to my family's adress.

I did not accumulate these fines.

The complication:
The vehicle was sold to the new owner, i did not submit the yellow form as i was bluntly stupid enough to trust him when he said he'll sort out the paperwork.

stupidness aside

The vehicle was sold to him with an outstanding disc which i did tell him about. But now he refuses to put the car on his name because he will not pay the disc, we both never anticipated the amount on the arrears that was charged and we both cannot afford it.

Long story short, he has possession of the vehicle, he has the RC1, sales agreement etc.

He picked up the fines and now the fines is coming to me.
I asked him to pay the fines, he would not.

I tried to redirect the fines via the capetown traffic govt email but they can't help.

Does anyone know whom i can email the documents to. He has accumulated camera speeding fines in GP, Northwest and Pretoria. Every fine is now coming to me and its keeping me up all night every night.

Or perhaps someone know of anyone who i can pm to plead for help ?

Thank you.

Get an affidavit and proof of sale.

You will need it for the both the fines and the vehicle. He is not putting the vehicle in his names so that he can speed and do what he likes.

Then go to municipality and write the vehicle off. You will need some things from them to do that.

You can probably still go and deregister the vehicle from your name.

You should have started with this, it changes things a lot.

Since you left these little details out, I revert to my first part of my first post…

Oh NO!

That is terrible, you are ****ed.

Good luck.

well it never expires unfortunately, and once the warrant is issued you then have additional fees to pay ie the messenger of the court to deliver the fine is around R286 ,you should recieve a picture of the fine eventually on your phone ,that means it is now legally delivered .last year the guy infront of me wanted to renew his liscences he had R15 k fines outstanding and 6 warrants of arrest out for him ,needless to say he didnt get his discs that day .you can still pay for the discs but they cant print them untill the arrears or fines are paid, you then have to go to the traffic dept where they print them for you at an additional fee ,maybe not all muni work like this but ours certainly does ,i believe Natal is a few years behind .

Good luck ,trying to find someone in the know is complicated on its own and you cant write the vehicle off untill all arrears are paid in full .

and once you do get the fines on paper you can fill in on the back the details of the driver etc and send it back ,dont know if they reissue them though .

Thank you.

There are a few issues here.
1 When he bought the car from you, he is required by law to register it in his name within 21 days.
2 He is driving around in an unlicensed car.
3 He is committing traffic offences driving an unlicensed car.
I really think he is in more trouble than he thinks.
Supply the traffic authorities where the speeding fines were incurred with his name and address as the driver. of the car at the time.
