Yup its a raspberry, only complaint is that the network is only 10/100.
Possible, but improbably. Your cpu might have come slightly unseated, meaning that the heatsink can't do its job any more, hence the fans in overdrive mode. Something like that happened to me before: http://www.craiglotter.co.za/2011/09/19/a-bit-of-thermal-paste/
Do you keep a terminal window open all the time?
Change your terminal font ( gnome-terminal -> profiles ) to "Monospace", and see if the Xorg CPU usage goes down to normal
