Do I need a smartphone for University?

I'm going to be going to University soon, I'm using a regular Nokia C-5.

Would upgrading to a smartphone be a good move?

What would be recommended?

It is nice to have email on your phone as most announcements are sent out via email. But I'm sure your phone has email anyways. I agree with people saying its a distraction

Well we communicate with our lecturers via Social Media and get our lessons and tasks all online. So a BB is highly recommended for BIS.
