So this is my situation:

I have a Surround sound system (and old 5.1 LG Home Theater) with all my speakers, that connect to the DVD/AMP, now i would like to get rid of the DVD/AMP and connect my speakers directly to my PC (via the On board sound card This is my Mother Board ) now i already tried this by connecting the current speakers to Audio jacks, and plug it straight into the sound card (But this was unsuccessful as the sound was very very soft). So i googled and realized i need an AMP in between, and i have a Saknyo Amp with 1 channel blown, but how would i use this though? From PC ->Amp->Speakers without RCA's if at all possible?

I am not sure on the model of the Saknyo Amp, ill have to check that out tonight.

Reason i want to get rid of the DVD/AMP, its not properly giving the best sound all the time, and its getting very hot lately.

I have a PA amp connected to the Central and Subwoofer jack on my soundcard and two Pc speakers (built in amp) connected to the front speakers jack.

The PA amp is driving a 12 inch Subwoofer, 6x9 (don't ask) and a 3 inch woofer.

Been working fine for the past 6 years.

I don't think the Sakyno amp would provide the best sound quality though.
Try to get something better.

Keep the current Amp/dvd setup. There should be a "Aux" input on the Amp/dvd box. Buy one of these and plug one end to the Amp/dvd aux input, and the other end to your soundcard.

Joka, this is what you need to do.

So you have a PC with a sound card, and audio out, and a DVD/AMP unit for your LG Speakers, and the LG speakers themselves.

The DVD/AMP is designed to drive those speakers. Do not replace it with another amp - it is fine as it is. All you need to do is get the sound from the sound card to the DVD/AMP, which is easy.

Look on the front and the back of the DVD player and see what inputs it has. Is there RCA stereo input? Optical input? Then all you need to do is match output from the soundcard to the input on the DVD/AMP. If the soundcard outputs stereo via RCA (most common), then find a stereo jack on the DVD player. If the soundcard outputs 5.1 via 3 stereo jacks, then look for 3 stereo inputs on the DVD/AMP (they will be labelled as 5.1 analog input or something similar).

Otherwise, your soundcard might even support optical output, and your DVD player might support that too.

There is another, perhaps even easier option. Take your DVD/AMP, one speaker and your computer with you to Hifi corporation, and ask them to connect them up. It will be easy for them. They will figure out the best way. might cost you R200.

Ok, so lets say i figure out what you saying here and manage to get my audio from the PC -> DVD/AMP -> Speakers, how will the DVD/AMP know that when im watching a movie with 5.1 DTS and lets say in this movie a shot gets fired and the front left speaker is only supposed to play the sound of this shot, how then - if im only making use of 1 Audio jack coming out of my PC to 2 RCA's going to my DVD?

Thats why i want to know, how do i just amplify the sound coming from my PC directly, as i have the Realtek MSI Audio Manager on my pc, but it wont amplify the sound coming directly from the PC to speakers, it recognizes when speakers are attached, but the audio that comes from it is so soft, its ridiculous. You could always just buy a line amp?
Essentially a headphone pre-amp.

Would this more suite my need?

You have to connect the PC to the DVD system via a cable that supports 5.1, either via HDMI or optical. If you want to connect it straight out of the analog ports on your soundcard you're going to have to connect them each channel individually to some sort of receiver/amp.

But now my DVD has Optical IN, but my On board sound card does not have Optical Out?

Would something like this give me 5.1 Audio?

You won't be able to drive your speakers directly from the soundcard as the output won't be sufficient.
It's a common problem with headphones that use higher ohm ratings.
You will need a pre amp of sorts to up the volume.

This morning i just realized i have another issue with how my set up will be, so as i mention in this request i needed help with getting my HDMI from 1 end of the room to the other end of the room through conduit in the wall, and coming out also through conduit in the wall. I managed to solve that dilemma (and i now cannot fit anymore cables through that conduit pipe, and the ceiling is up already).

Now my problem is, since my PC will be at 1 end of the room, and the HDMI & Cat5e has been put through the conduit to the other end, i now dont have a way of getting the audio from my PC to the DVD (Unless i go under the carpet - which has not been laid yet, but that's not an ideal solution for me, also is it even possible to get a Jack to RCA cable about 15m's long?).

So what i was thinking, (will only be able to test if it works once my Home Theater room is finished - hopefully by this weekend) this is my TV i know its got optical out, and since the TV is going to be just above the DVD/AMP, so this is how i want to to connect everything, will you guys tell me if it will work?

Audio from PC (via HDMI) -> TV from TV(via Optical)->to DVD/AMP->Speakers

Will this give me 5.1?

Edit: I see AV Supply has a 10m RCA to Jack cable here
