Well to respond to a few of the issues that have been raised:
1. There will be no shadowing at all as it currently stands. I leave the company on the 21st and thus far nobody has been found to replace me.
2. Its not a special project as such to find a replacement, I actually don't have the time to do it as I am busy wrapping up my last couple of things and making notes as I go along so that whoever does come in has something to refer to.
3. As stated earlier the company isn't interested in the suggestion to look at someone internally
4. I've received a couple of CV's now but can't get management to sit down and interview the people, they want me to do it. This is what makes me uncomfortable as I will not be working with the new appointee in the end or helping them to get to grips with any of the details of the job at all. I'm willing to pass on the candidates that I think are fit, but I do not think the final decision should rest with me as to who to appoint.
