Do I really need a Deye/Sunsynk inverter?

Couple of points - you mention short periods of peak at 6kW - and thats in Summer...- so I'd say it's much easier to trip (ie go over 6kW) than you think. If it's a long term investment, and panels are in the mix there are other important things to consider - I'll list 4..

What is your view on the luxpower? The luxpower is an off grid inverter, but can apparently be set to use load simultaneously from the grid and PV.

Its a decent inverter, some quirks here and there but my mom in law has had once since November and had no issues. Also comes with 2 MPPTs should you want to have separate PV strings. And yes it can use PV and grid simultaneously

Very aggressively priced for what it delivers, excellent value. Pity that it only comes with a 2 year warranty, but feedback that I have received is that it is bulletproof.
 
Not wanting to derail this thread, but if the OP decides on a non-Deye inverter, what would people recommend for the battery?
I've seen quotes for a Deye inverter and Hubble battery

Batteries are independent of inverter, so choice of inverter probably shouldn't influence battery make.

I'd recommend Pylontech, BYD, FreedomOne, Dyness or, if you must, Hubble.

My concern is matching value for money - if the inverter is say a Luxpower, then Pylontech (which I've heard is at the upper end of the price range) seems like overkill. I would look for a reputable battery with a decent BMS that sends useful info to the inverter, like power used since last full charge or preferably actual DoD.
I'm looking at buying an Axpert 3 kVA but my batteries (2 x 12V LiFePO4) don't have a BMS with data communication capabilities.
Once I've added a smart shunt to estimate DoD as well as Solar Assistant to tell how much excess solar power I have from inside the house (Axpert will go in the garage) then the price is not far off a Luxpower. So I would just have to take a hit and sell off my existing set of batteries

I don't think that is necessarily the best way to think about this - a cheap inverter doesn't necessarily imply you need to pair it with a poor battery. Batteries are meant to last upward of 15 years (for a decent one), so paying a small premium for a product that will last is totally worth it in my opinion, even if paired with a cheaper inverter.
