I haven't really been in love since my big heart break, which happens to be about 6 years ago. Since then I am not a big fan of love and romance anymore but every time I see a movie with beautiful girls being in love it reminds me on that feeling that you get when you kiss the woman you really love.

I am 32 now and I am starting to worry if I ever find the one (again). And I guess in order not to get disappointed or having to settle for less, I am not even starting to look, I don't have to give love a chance and I can't get hurt. Good plan, don't you think?

Um, Ja dude, apparently you do if youre thinking about this on a Saturday night.

The question is whether you should.

Firstly, you need to stop watching gay romantic comedies and get a more realistic view of what love is.

Second, the heartache part gets easier. It won't really kill you and the truth is you'll forget all about her as soon as you meet someone else interesting who wants to have sex with you.

At the very least your thread title is the chorus for a sure fire hit country song.

ok im to pissed to read through this properly...... Do you waanna fall in love again? YES..... thee first three times for me were a ***k up, how ever now.... i have met the one, this is like the matrix the one.... i have met neo(her) and she is perfect(her again i stress:))eventualy your better judgement will provide a good catch.....There is someone good out there for you it might not always be that abvious when you meet them.

We all go the through the good, bad and the ugly but we always manage to overcome it. Don't fool yourself because it finds you when you least expect, especially when you're not even looking.

Well you cant get much more than Matrix analogies to convince you ;)

The reason having your hart broken sucks so much is because what you had meant a lot to you and was that good. You dont have anything to lose, just everything to gain by falling in love again. Worst case, you end up where you are now anyway.

Hollywood type romance happens only in the movies. Get your friends to set you up and think of it as a friendship at first. The deeper you sink yourself into a relationship, the more difficult it is to come out of it. Meet few girls and if u want them to remain friends then its all good.

Got a joke on BB few weeks ago. If you get a girl to play Monopoly and if she chooses the iron then you know u got a good girl :) .

Yes, like the others have said, Hollywood "love" is not real love...
If you don't get in a car you can't die in a car crash, but you won't get to where you want to go (ok, you can walk, but that will take long). In life you have to take changes, doesn't matter if it is in business or in your love life. Put your self out there, what is the worst that can happen? You can get rejected a couple of times... After a while I am sure someone will cross your path that will suit your needs. I don't believe in the one, there is no such thing... There is a lot of people out there that will complement you and with whom you will get a long with. But you won't meet these people if you don't put yourself out there.
But that said, there is nothing wrong with being alone... If you are comfy with your situation(which I doubt you are, hence the thread) leave it, if not, go out and do something about it. Just don't sit at home and wish things could be better. Be pro active and go and make new friends and somewhere you will find someone(s) that will be a great match...
Anyway, my 2c worth.

OP, I'm a few years younger than you, but I'm thinking the same thing. I try not to worry about it too much. Actually I've known from a young age the whole love thing isn't for me, so I'm probably not the best one to give advice, but Nick333 is right. Jimmytheskull might be but I'm not exactly sure what he's trying to say. Everyone else is just quoting clichés to try and cheer you up. Cut down on the Romantic Comedies... They're only slightly comedic and not at all anything like real life romance.

Real life sucks, romantically and otherwise. The fact is, someone better (your human , subjective mind will convince you that she is, anyway) will likely come along, and all will be forgotten. Statistics are on your side. Besides, the type of girls you see in movies never really fall in love, they just **** some guy who has bajillions of dollars, until he dies of old age or doesn't have the money anymore. Don't judge people by how they look only.

I know the feeling you're talking about, but the truth is it will only ever be that awesome once... We have to deal with it and move on unfortunately...

Edit: StellenboschStudent also makes a good point (despite living close to the absolute worst place in the universe to get relationship advice from). He has a more cheery outlook, you should probably rather go that way.

OP -im no expert but after 6 years you should be over this. Its sounds like to me that you many be suffering from depression. Maybe you should consider profession help. There really is nothing wrong with it

Just so you know you're not alone, Im going through a break up now after 6 years together. In my minds eye she was the one and I had it all planned out. But it has ended and it turns your world upsidedown. I wont derail your thread with my **** but know there is a lot of help out there. and there is always hope.

I can guarantee you one thing, that the pain of losing a relationship PALES in comparison to the pain of regret.
Live your life like its the only one you have got....
because it is

My best wishes

Six years is too long to "wait"! You really must move on. I had a terrible experience once... I quickly moved on reasoning that if I remained single too long the other person would continue to "have a hold" on me one way or the other... Not sure if this makes sense?:) All the best!

Thanks for all the answers.

First I have to clarify that I am already over this ex, perhaps I didn't express this properly. I did have relationships in between, I did have many one night stands in between, however, I am not falling in love. Mainly because I don't find what I'm looking for.

I was suffering from depression for 3 or 4 years, not only because of her but she was definitely the trigger. I am off antidepressants for 2 years and I consider myself happy, also as a single.

But the best advice is to put myself out there, I know this is the reason why I don't find love, or why love doesn't find me. I guess you can't hide from it anyway.

I know now that the main reason why I am single is because I do not put myself out there. Being a foreigner I have little friends and rarely go out. Who wants to go out alone? The problem is also that I am not that kind of person who likes going out regularly to drink and party. I am the sporty type who likes to go run and swim and rock climb and stuff but that's also not the places where you meet someone.

So I will have to think about a way to put myself back on the menu, to be able to be seen and chosen ;-)

Why not join a running club and make friends there. It will be a lot easier to meet decent women through friends you meet at a running club than at bars/clubs.

Hmmm well I aint interested in relationships at the moment,2 much kark but I am 22.I am sure you will find someone else it just takes time and sometimes its just so random(when you meet the person). Good luck.

I wouldn't trade the love and compassion I get from my GF for anything in the world. Only thing I want to change about her is her surname.

practice makes purrfect,

you loved, it didn't work. Sadly you got hurt at the time.

Now you sit there & sulk, allowing her to still hurt you.

Look in the mirror, smile a lil. Mrs Right is still waiting to be discovered. ;)
