Hey Guys

I currently have a seperate 512kbps DSL line from telkom and a TelkomInternet 3Gig account (I use Telkom because of their loose capping policy).

I didn't originally go for a Do option cause when i started (on 348kbps) there wasn't a Do option with 3 gig cap (the amount is more important than the speed to me really). At some point I upped to 512kbps, cause the price difference didn't seem that bad.

Now I checked this morning and it seems if I replace my current setup with Do level 3 (4mbps+3gig TelkomInternet) I'd actually be paying less (R554, compared to R565 for the current setup).

Can this be right? Is there a catch, like you can't buy topup gigs from Do, or the TelkomInternet loose capping doesn't apply to Do?

If not I'm switching today.

Yes it is cheaper and you will probably get about 4.5GB out of it. You can also top-up.

But don't sign-up today, as they will charge you for the whole month of May too. Do it on the first of next month.

No catch - Telkom 512 option is overpriced relative to their 4mbps option which of course is also way overpriced

The worst thing is that if your line is only certified for 512k they won't sell you the Do3 package. Even if you say that you are happy to get the slower speeds. They will only sell you the slower Do1 or 2 packages.

Very annoying

When I first sign up for do 1 I forgot to mention I only want it from the beginning of the next month. When I remembered she said it was to late. So Naturally, assuming I'll have to pay for a whole month, used all I can of the account in one weeks time. When I got the account the next month I found that they actually pro-rata it and I only paid for one week.

So I'd say go for it. Maybe you even lucky and they give you a new account then you can use the full 4.5 + 30 this last week.

Thanks for the replies guys.

So I just phoned Telkom, and unlucky me, my exchange not up to 4 meg yet, and as you said, they can't give me the package in that case. They also can't give me a good reason why not :P

Oh well.
