At a simple level there have been parameterised program generators for yonks, since the days of COBOL and BASIC.
 
It is scary how automation can bring down costs. We are working on a project and with some automation it brought the roll out cost down from 500k to 16k
 
45%??????? Up to 58%?
Replacing 45% of the worlds workforce with robots, is in other words, removing 45% of consumers from circulation. This will have a huge negative impact on everything. Companies revenue will shrink, marketing budget will plummet, R&D will take a nose dive.........OMG, the end is neigh........
In theory, it can be done, as a fact, it won't be done. Or at least not on a 45% scale, much lower than that. Consumerism is our circle of life.

Anyone with even a basic understanding of AI will tell you this is a very difficult problem, like someone said earlier, programmers will be the last to go. Only true AI or something very close will replace them.

That's still programming, albeit at a very high level. You'll still have to give the computer an unambiguous "spec" for it to translate into machine code and run it. You haven't replaced programmers at all, just changed the language they use.

Uh thats not what CEOs do...

From what I can tell senior roles are least under threat anyway. They invariable involve tasks that are judgemental & thus difficult to automate.

People in SA are going to be hit hard with this.

Unless you've worked in a first world and had to compete against a million other people you have no idea how tough it is out there. That is one of the reasons why things here are so crap, there is very little competition and you can be the big fish in a small pond just being slightly above the very low average.
