All i know is i would rather go spend my 2k on a mobo with usb 3 than spend my 2k on a mobo without :D.

You use 4 but can you use 6? :D

i'm already running some software that can take advantage of 128 cores. :whistle:
 
One thing I am looking forward to is better flash drives. There must be a way to get more than 30-35MB/sec from these things.
 
Ya how do i get windows to use that setting every time i reboot :D.

Like set this program to run on that cores but keep the setting?

30/35mb/s a sec, geez what usb drive are you using? I never get more than 2 or 3mb/s :D.

Still got USB 1.1 or USB 2.0? Same argument applies there.

I'm more interested in actually seeing what products are going to be available and what the new uses for this USB3 there going to be. Something more than hooking up standard storage and telecom peripherals.

There's an app available for that. Unfortunatley my brain is mostly comprised of volatile RAM.

Some Corsair thing. Reads around 30MB/s on a good day, writes about 10-11. They get slower over time it seems. :(
 
Gigabyte also has a PCI-X USB 3.0 card out.

The nice thing about USB 3 is that the transfer speed is 5Gbps....that's faster than current SATA 2.

Also...USB 3 is dual simplex...meaning it copies to and from at the same time. It transfers 25GB in about 70 sec.

And THAT's why you should wait for USB 3 boards.
 
Ya but surely it cannot transfer 25gb because it would be limited by the hardware?

So it could if you have a piece of hardware capable of keeping up. Hmmm that is kuk load though haha :D

It would achieve that speed on SSD drives, right? Or better yet between drives at the same time.

Would be very interesting as a form of short-distance networking. :)
 
I don't go with all that mumbo jumbo....sata can copy at 3Gb/s but yet you only ever see up to 70MB/s....

USB 3 might be able to handle 5Gbs - but that's only the "standard" set, it doesn't mean you will be copying at those speeds unless you have hardware that makes full use of it (which will probably be quite expensive...)
 
Save your money for a LAN cable Killidoob...
 
I like the PCI-E add-on. I dunno it'll be a while before i start gettign any 3.0 devices so i'm not bothered.

That's because you're using a cheap flash disk. Get the Corsair flash Voyager GT to see proper USB 2.0 speeds.
 
Keep you only see 70mb because your hdd can only achieve that.

Frontosa are selling a 256 ssd card which is 4 64gb raided for 30k and the read write are into the gb :D.
 
That sounds affordable. I have 30 dead keyboards I'm not using the "k" on. I'm gonna give it a try. :D
