Okay, so I need to sign a suretyship for credit, and they claim (well, the form claims) I must attach a R20 Revenue Stamp before the business will process it. But weren't Revenue Stamps completely phased out back in 2009 (or around there)? Where would I even find them? I tried asking at the post office, and they looked at me like I was mad. So, is this still a thing, or does the business I'm dealing with have a very outdated form?

Stamp duties were phased out by SARS between 2000 and 2009 when the last ones (on property leases over 5 years) were scrapped on 31st March 2009. When you bought the revenue stamp, that money went to SARS as a duty on the lease. You can ignore that part of the form and point to the Revenue Laws Amendment Act of 2008 that repealed the Stamp Duty Act of 1968 if they argue about it.

Just staple R20 on it and send it.

Thanks for the replies. All very good feedback, but I think I may follow bruce_the_loo's advice. :)

That, or attach a KFC voucher for R20 (seems to be the middle ground).

Buy a R20 stamp, lick and stick if they insist. :p
