Do students know about bursaries?

Oh! So that's why I haven't been getting bursaries!? It's because I didn't apply!

Perhaps that blog is misleading. It should say "Black students don't apply... everyone else gets rejected".

Furthermore, bursaries are iffy... They may hand it to someone that will fail, but at the same time, someone that will own all their years of studies will get rejected.

We discussed this in the car today as 4 children at my daughters new school have bursaries and we would love to be able to get a bursary for my daughter so she can study further after matric.

thanks for the link.

applied for NRF last June. Obtained 2 A's (that i know of. Yes its january and i still dont have my results, crap uni) out of 3 modules. I was told there was nothing for me even tho im studying a scarce skill.

Classmate fails 1, barely passes another. Receives bursary. Add to that, classmate applies for said bursary a week after closing date.

Had to take odd jobs to pay off fees and to clothe and feed myself.

Still passed tho...i think! Tomorrow's the day i get my results

A buddy of mine is starting his PhD this year and couldn't get a bursary from the NRF and he's averaged way above 2 A's through his university career. Life's not fair.
