Can't believe in ghosts if you don't believe in [a] god.

I believe in non-corporeal entities, but don't believe in a God.
Ghosts is a bit of a vague term, there's residual hauntings, sentient hauntings, entities of all kinds...etc etc. I join the local paranormal investigation group one night, but it turned out to be the plumbing that wasn't secured properly.

No. There is no tangible evidence for ghosts and like all paranormal stuff it’s designed to be impossible to falsify because these ideas are described as above or beyond reality.

Since science is the study of reality the concept of ghosts is simply a worthless endeavour. If they can’t be detected and studied then we can’t start building evidence for ghosts.
Your statement also rules out the existence of a "God"

You can. I believe in ghosts but do not believe in an almighty god that will punish you for eyeing your neighbour's wife :p

I have seen some things I can't explain so im open to the possibility. Use to live in an active house when I was young. Have seen figures on several occasions. Quite a unnerving experiance when you see it in real-life.

...assuming we've studied and discovered everything science has to offer... ;)

Yes. I live in South Africa. Cannot deny it.

The process doesn’t get sparked with a storybook. Real observation or detection is required before the scientific method is practiced.

Why do you think Science is not searching for evidence of the cat in the hat?

And how do you detect something you don't yet have the technology needed to detect?

You don’t.

You do have to consider how far you need to remove god from this reality though. To the point where he’s not real? Think about it.

Not calling myself a believer of anything but as technology sees deeper and uncovers more I gotta admit, I’m still rooting for the Cat in the Hat though. Story was more realistic than the Bible.

I think I need to change my vote. Ghosts are very real and we can easily prove their existence. There are tons of them collecting State pensions here in our very own country.

I don't think it needs religion in it at all?And I say that as someone religious.

We surely have not discovered everything out there? We don't know if parallel universes exist because we can't detect them, only theories, we don't know if things can exist out of phase with our reality or time because we can't detect it ether - only speculate.

We always start with speculation/imagination/theory and then as time progresses technology allows us to detect and/or explore enough to make those theories into realities (or not).

You're right that real observation and detection is required, but my question is what if there's things around us we simply do not have that ability to observe and detect - YET?
