Do you donate money?

I donate 41% of my salary every month to the government.
 
I have donated a couple of times to my old schools Endowment and to UCT's Endowment.
Of course, they are tax deductible, so there is that :)

They were quite substantial. But it not a monthly recurring thing.

They are also in my Will (As well as two children's charities). So if I die, they will be very happy :)
 
I'm too stingy to donate lately. I have a small payroll deduction, but should definitely give more - guess I need to find a worthy cause first hand to be compelled.

My excuse is that I'll be donating all of my 10-years' accumulated wealth to the in-laws. Then again, my SO earned more than that so no excuse. :D

+1 - although I feed the feral cats in my area.

+-15 cats and I go through about 2kg of food a feeding at like R50-60 a pop.

I feed 3x a week so thats like R150-R180 weekly and R600-R720 monthly. Sometimes I get donations which helps, but a lot of it is out of my own pocket.
 
How much is tax deductible?

Let says I pay 100k in tax a year, how much could I instead donate and claim back to insure the government (read zupta, the gupta's and the anc) gets the least amount possible?

Limited to 10% of taxable income per year. Surplus gets rolled over to the following year.

I also feed the cats here so so so so so many "wild" cats in this area is actually strange.

So yea same boat I put some food out each night in the refuge room. Luckily everyone donates some food to me so that helps
 
Wait, can we claim back the money we donate to OUTA from SARS? I'm pretty sure they're a NPO
