Yes, I was vegetarian for 10 years but went back to being omnivore because I was getting unhealthy. A healthy vegetarian diet in SA is also more expensive than an omnivorous one hence in SA, it's associated with the middle class.

I feel bad about it sometimes. Maybe I will go back, maybe not but hopefully lab-grown meat becomes wide-scale in our lifetime.
If going vegetarian affected your health, eating frankenmeats from a lab is probably going to kill you, if for no other reason than that it probably lacks every essential aminoacid and more than humans needs for healthy survival. You know, almost as bad or worse than glyphosate saturated plants that lack practically everything except the cardboard that hold the shape together...

i know someone who encountered the opposite effect - i had a friend who was at Varsity with me and who was omnivorous all his life - but he was mostly sick and ill all the time - on his doctors advice he decided to go vegetarian for a while - and he basically stopped being sick and ill - and after a few years he decided that he was well enough and tried going back to meat ..... within a few months he was constantly sick again - and upon stopping meat for a second time he amazingly was healthy and fit once again - he has been vegetarian for the last 20 years with absolutely great health - and has been advising everyone that he knows who is ill to give up eating meat altogether

Yep, seems to be more of an individual thing than we realise.

Not just about meat though.
For some time I had a sensitivity to anything canned, too much salt, some other weird things too. It's changed again, maybe 'cos I became more careful. But still lactose intolerant now. Although that may be more age related.

Years ago the medical arena used to think SA males were more at risk for heart attacks than usually elsewhere due to cholesterol levels caused by our meat consumption, but haven't heard that one for ages so who knows.

Yes - that goes for anything but especially red meat and fish. Nothing like it for recovery either.

I went through a little "vegan" phase where I got brainwashed by a bunch of hippie surfers.
It didn't last more than 2 weeks till I realised this is utterly retarded and went to Spur to devour a steak. Life's been good since.
I was a vegetarian for like 9 years, until one day I was watching a nature documentary where they tranquilized a antelope and my mouth started watering and I was picturing it being skinned for its meat.

Pleb, everybody knows the Beans Bunny is the OG.

Well for one regular vegetarian's generally don't go around shouting it from the rooftops

As for being vegan... that's definitely woke schit. I've seen enough people doing it as a fad and then three months later they're stuffing their faces with steak again
For Europeans and Americans they apply Christian ethnics to their vegetarian and veganism, in that every non-vegan/vegetarian is a Heretic that needs to converted or proverbial burnt at the stake. The same goes for the meat eaters except vice versa.

That's why you so many of the broederbrand guys getting so triggered by vegetarian dishes
