Gas stove, but that's purely because I love cooking on gas. Gas geyser too. We don't get loadshed (small town as a whole not some estate running community wide backup). Cable faults sometimes but rarely (none this year so far)

Most of time, I like my daily 2-hour or so of loadshedding. Anything to get me away from my phone and laptop is awesome  I use the time to do non-Eskom work (gardening, braai, wash the car, go for a walk, read, write (mental notes and brainstorming), listen to music (on my phone) and so on.

Or you could do those things anyway.

It's annoying when people try to spin a power outage as some kind of positive...

UPS/Inverter solution keeps ONT, Router and Wifi online, as well as TV and streaming devices.
Second UPS keeps Radio/Internet relay repeaters online
12v lighting in all main rooms (Cheap LED strips from local Chinatown) connected to 17 a/h alarm battery
and then gas stove and heater.....

Did the LED lights myself - cost less than R5000 including brand new battery and cable
Just replaced UPS/Inverter batteries - R6000 for 2 105a/h batteries - einaaaaaaa

Past 5 or so years running a 7.5kva generator running the whole house except the 2 geysers, stove and oven. Effective, cheap and should anything go wrong with the Generator, will simply cost me R10k to replace it. R10k already deposited in fixed savings account generating some additional income.

How much diesel or petrol + servicing it?

On the previous round of loadshedding I paid R300 to fill the tank. We had 2 outages a day of 2.5 hours each. I got about 5 1/2 days worth out of it, probably would have made 6 days if I had not filled it again. So, on stage 4 loadshedding and 2 outages a day for 2.5 hours each, in our area it would cost me around R300-R400 a week.

I have not had mine serviced as yet, so will probably see what that would cost me.

At least, so far, I did not need to worry about weather, batteries, solar panels or extreme expenses to get alternative energy.

Only 2 outages on stage 4 wow you're not in JHB.

What size inverter would I require to run the following:
12 X Analog CCTV Cameras
1 X LG 32" TV/Monitor
1 X Vumatel CPE
1 X Unifi USG
1 X 8 Port POE Switch
1 X Unifi AP Lite
Ideally would like at least 3 hours runtime.
Your suggestions are most welcome.
Eish, Escum is costing me money!

Yeah, I am not counting the third outage that happens between 22:00 and 06:30, because at that time we simply go to bed and do not need electricity. Get a good nights' rest.

Down for +7 hours today.

Some lead-acid batteries ran right down, so definitely some damage to batteries.

Mixture of Lead-Acid Deep Cycle and Lithium batteries.

UPS for Router/Wifi Repeaters/Security Cameras. Another for TV.

Loose Lithium battery packs (About 40Ah for laptops, phones, etc.

Inverter for Fridge/Freezer.

Actually quite a big investment in batteries, don't like the idea of a generator, but it would have been cheaper.

Lots of rechargeable LED lights.

Gas stove.

Lost 2 batteries after they were drained :( got a generator but it's a small one.

Some power bank type solutions for now. Getting solar hybrid system shortly. Just finalizing acceptance of the quote I am happy with.

Get into your car. Drive to a friend in a different zone. Have a beer or some wine for 3 hours and don't drive back if you feel drunk :p

4×100Ah batteries and 500W Solar Panels connected to RCT MegaPower UPS (+EPever Tracer MPPT)
12v LED lights throughout house and LTE Router on 12v
Gas Stove
Waiting for my RCT 1000w inverter with battery trolley to be delivered today. I see it has a mppt and in specs it says 360w panel. Can I use a 450w panel?
