Do you install more apps now?

Now that the Marketplace has been going for a while here in SA, do you feel you've been installing more apps? I know I have, especially since I can now browse through the Marketplace on the Zune software. I must admit, my purchase history is skewed since I've needed to uninstall and reinstall all my apps due to changing my region to SA.

Now I'm tempted to start buying apps, especially those that are R10-R20.

The apps I'd want to buy (ones I had trial versions of when I used a UK live account) aren't available in the SA Marketplace - pretty darn annoying. No BBC, no Endgadget - I forget the others but I had a list somewhere

There isn't even a Kindle app for the SA Marketplace, despite Kindle being sold here (officially from amazon) etc.

Oh well - another case of getting stuck with the dregs, cause our little corner of the world doesn't warrant any real interest.

Yeah, I usually type in a random keyword like once a day and see what gems I find :)

I think the best thing to do is to alert that their app is not available in all regions. The reason for this is that apps that were published before the new regions became available have to be manually made available for the new regions. A lot of apps that havn't received updates are still only available in the initial markets. I've tweeted a developer before and in less than a day their app was available. So the best thing to do is to make the developer aware of the situation.

My father now gets apps regularly, he is not exactly computer literate... Only free ones though

I've bought a couple of apps. It's so cheap that it's worthwhile paying for that which you want. I do need to go rate most of them though. Will do that tonight.

I bought a few but annoyed that some app makers haven't updated their regions yet, like Seesmic

I would recommend contacting them and requesting this. It will take them 5 minutes - so the chance is good they wont mind.

Used a US account at first but switched to the SA one, the amount of omissions are sad. No Twitter, Alien Blue etc.
Contacted Shazam about their app being released and this was their reply...

Hi there,

We're considering when to release in other countries, so thank you very much for your interest. Your feedback helps us to prioritize releasing in new markets and we'll try to get Shazam to market in South Africa soon.

Kind regards

I bought an app (Steambirds) on my SA account, but I switched back to my US account today.

Tried it, didn't like it. It's also not about the quality of the app for me, rather that an official app isn't there.

I understand. Another suggestion would be Beezz which is much "happier".

Thanks for the suggestions :) But I've switched to my US account again. It's almost exactly the same situation that faces Xbox owners in SA. Do you go with the local option for payment support but less variety or do you go international for more variety but visit evopoints.co.za for your points vouchers and all that...

I contacted Seesmic and they responded the same way Shazam did. Will look into it...

That's rather annoying. Maybe they don't want people to get excited when they see a new update, only to find that it's nothing.

It's a load of nonsense really, shouldn't it just be a simple case of hitting an availability field or something? Le sigh...
