Ok, so I met some peeps in the last year and because of my age, hooopdy doo!, I get treated like a kid. Sometimes I love acting like a kid, as it keeps me young, but joh...

Ok, so I just bought my wheels 3 months ago and now I'm duk of them I want to sell them now. And guess what, I want to buy new wheels when I get mine sold - 18's! I'm also getting my 1st child in August. And if everything goes to plan I might also sel my car and get a GTA, if everything goes according to plan.;) Now comes this dude who tells me I must keep my car coz I'm getting a child and I should rather buy baby stuff and stop fiddling with the car buying this and buying that and I'm going to be a dad soon so I'll have no money to buy stuff for my car and I'll have to be responsible yada yada yada!

What, does my pending child, son I hope, have to do with me wanting, and affording a GTA? Wheels? Its my wheels, I can give it away if I feel like it? The way he makes it sound is that when my son comes my life will be over and I'll die a slow death in an MPV on 13" rims!:wtf:

The problem here is this...people look at their sittuations and measure YOUR life according to theirs! Yes, we are going to start buying the pram/cot/car seat - according to this guy its like R10 000...so what, If its R10 000 he might not be able to afford it, but who says I won't? And its not like I'm going to go buy the Ferarri of all prams...

This guy really worked on my nerves and I'm slowely getting sick of people thinking for me and acting as if I haven't thought this through...

"oh, if you do sell your car you should get a 4 door as the law states.....and it will be difficult for you guys to get in and out of the car with 2 doors" Ha?:wtf:I test fitted a car seat into my 147, and guess what...it goes in and out like a wet condom.:twisted: So, if I sell me car its 147 GTA or 3.2 GT! Low and behold, I bet that same guy is gonig to tell me about petrol???

Do you guys know any people like this? How do i handle him without being rude or affecting our friendship? I've tried telling this guy not to worry about me, I can afford to have a child, I can afford to drive a GTA don't worry...I like 2 door cars and so does my wifey...:p

a 4 door car with boot is preferred with children, especially babies.

where'll the pram and carrybag go?

Ever tried putting a squirming baby into a baby seat in a 2-door car?

I've got a three door and the missus a 5 - those back doors are a huge back-saver.

yep - infact have driven around with my sisters child in my 147...in and out like I said...condom....wet...ease!

Of course you can do whatever you like but imo your mate is offering some good advice, babies are expensive dude!

I know Babies are expensive, but yarrrrie pls don't compare your life to mine...he's probably knee deep in debt and think I am too or somefing like that. I have 2 friends who have newborns, and they give me ample advice believe me when I say Im prepared for the costs...

And its not like I'm going to go buy the Ferrari of all prams...

You actually get Ferrari branded prams :D

Just agree with him, its the fastest way to end an argument and get someone off your case. Then do what you want anyway. Or say, that's a good way to think of it. Make him feel useful, and he won't bug you so much

If when the baby arrives and the 2 doors aren't working out you can always get a different car.

Don't be so defensive, your mate is just being a good friend and looking out for you, be grateful you know such ppl :D

LMAO - I think Happy Camper is the kind of guy I'm trying to explain in the thread lol - Are you sure you not him?

@ RustyPrincess - that's some good advice, thank you.
@Budza...I have tons of sense - thus I drive an Alfa!

At least you did not opt for a reliable car. That way you'll be forced to spend cash on parts and upgrades. Wish I had that excuse. :D

Are you absolutely sure you can afford the car and the baby at the same time, I mean dude, really, I love you man, don't want to see you suffering! :D

if you can afford a new car, as well as the numerous expenses that come with having a child, then why dont you just tell him so

LOL ave...don't you think I told this dude 20 times? Nope, according to him I'll struggle and have to take out loans jus to buy NAN

The best way to deal with it is to accept that everyone has an opinion, whether it's right or wrong. I say "yes that is your opinion, and I don't agree" and that's it, there's nothing more to discuss.
If your find the opinion to be true go away and use it to your benefit. Everyone has a different idea of what is right, and some ppl need to learn that they can't spend their lives trying to ram their 'idea' of perfectionism on others. It certainly won't change the way you are.

then it sounds like he has control issues- its not going to stop there, he will probably give you parenting advice when you have your kid- you mustn't feed him that, or stop picking him up so much, you spoiling him etc

Your friend obviously learned a lesson the hard way & tried to warn you. If you think it doesn't apply to you then ignore it. Thank him for the warning with a big smile on your face & leave it at that.

Hes right, you should sell your house to be able to pay for the car and just go pick up a nice double door fridge box from game or somewhere, nice diggs haha,
if someone says something you dont like, ignore it, were all half blind to the word alfa now on the forums, let us return the favour and teach you something :P

if you can afford another family car then its fine. otherwise consider a four door with a lota boot space. I purchased a McLaren pram cos it folds up small. problem is my sub box although small does not leave much room for groceries when shopping. so alot goes on the backseat. problem with the backseat is half of it has the babyseat-which is a Ferrari if I might add :D
