Same here. Now everything has to be flat because it's easier across platforms.
 
I never liked mweb. Their old logo was 'meh'. They seriously needed someone with a smidgeon of talent to come up with something is remotely engaging. Consequently, their new logo is even more 'meh'.

Like many above have said, the 'W' is a massive letdown.
 
Don't like it, but I'll at least give credit that it was designed with some intention, unlike bidorbuy who just simply slapped the deezer font on the logo and called it a day.

Cumon, some kid got paid big bucks for this!
 
Everyone is now doing this design. My company have been using this design style since late 2016. Lower caps, open-source font and punctuation. If you go look at the hundreds and hundreds of templates out there, this is the norm.

Just a shame really of how little research these advertising companies are pouring into it. The style is pretty much generic, though it fits the current flow of design, but is becoming overly used in the marketplace which may cause confusion.

They use M&C Saatchi - a well respected agency. They obviously didn't do enough public testing.

I believe it will take time to build an association with the new logo (and branding) and their name is quite unique and short which is a bonus in today's time of the appeal, but the design isn't unique other than the font, spacing and style of placement. If you browse Themeforest or Envato in general then you will come across this design frequently.

Like I said I have been using the same logo style for my company for close to 4 years, and the only difference is the font, but the decoration is the same with subtle differences. The punctuation at the end, it is a revived practise from the days before the internet.

I don't believe their new logo looks bad, but the design isn't new.

There was a massive cry-out when the City of Cape Town changed their logo 5 years or so ago.

Has definitely grown on me since though.
