I lost R9k years ago and I still miss it every now and then. I would be giving myself a slap every morning if I lost R150k

Have about 180k in ETH. I put about 80K in long ago and have just held and withdrawn under the annual CGT limit a couple of times. So it's been a huge win so far. First investment that's ever done anything for me, I was having such bad luck with stocks and other things (EOH, Steinhoff lol)
But now with high bond/car interest rates, escalating rates, inflation, and other unforeseen personal issues... general savings is taking a hit. I'm in an unsustainable spiral, so have to make a plan. I'll try hold out as long as possible before I touch more.
Might have to spend every penny left to get out of SA.

I have a deep suspicion of Crypto. I think there is a lot of BS around it (especially alt coins and coin offerings).
But.. In 2017 I had two friends. One was a pretty savvy investor with a track record and one a friend that has a YOLO approach to life. The savvy investor told me to invest in Steinhof and the YOLO guys said Bitcoin for the win. I listened to the savvy investor and bought Steinhof at R15/share. Bitcoin was at $6000/bitcoin.
Obviously the outcome is I lost all my Steinhof money and bitcoin had a 1000% return.
So even savvy investors get it wrong. So now about up to 5% of my investments is in crypto (bitcoin and staked Ether).
