Do you pay your speeding fines?

If yes, why? If no, why not?

Got two fines recently on the R21 on the way back from Germiston to Pretoria East.
Still not sure where the trap is.............................anyone?
I do pay them so as not to sukkle renewing licenses etc.

Other - Only pay when surprised in a roadblock where they check for outstanding fines

If I get one and I know that I was speeding I will pay because I was at fault. I will not try using technicalities to try to get away with it. Having said that, the last speeding fine I got was inside the Huguenot tunnel in 2014 I think.

They tend to trap at the Nelmapius turnoff. Try and assume that all the bridges on the R21 have camera. There was a camera the other day on the left hand side of the road on a tall stand which was clearly visible. It was on the way to the airport though.

They also trap across the road from the Engen 1-stop on your way to the airport. The camera is usually hidden in the barrier.

Other: If hand written and I signed for it, I pay.
Getting it on E-mail I just ignore what proof have they got that I ever received the fine.

We should start fining people with slowing speeds. In fact, I-can't-drive-crawlers are probably the problem.

On that topic... I almost fell out of my car laughing at two people in a car who couldn't notice more than 3 visual cues that 'hey perhaps I should go left because of road works' being surprised that the lane all of a sudden ended. Of course they both only realised this as soon as the driver start hitting the signage clearly showing there is no more.

I pay them, I was speeding. I know I was I’m not gonna argue it. Man up lol.

Got caught doing 145 on the highway a month ago by the friendliest Afrikaans traffic cop and he’s like “are you not contesting the speed”

And I said no, I could see my speed I was doing 148. He laughed and said well my system said 145 so I can only fine you for doing 145 not 148

i have a service that squashes them for me, well , try to, 99% of the time they get it right

No. I've never come across a trap set up correctly, so the prosecutor almost always withdraw the case. When they don't, only happened twice in my over 40 years driving, the state failed to prove their case. I don't care for picture fines in the post and have never received a summons. Will be defended though. No costs as the courts are my usual address of work.

What speeding fines. I never get them in the post.
