have that too. made a 190 in 80 zone go away too ,that was an eye opener.
never paid squat most of them never go past the book they written on

even if they only sort out 2 fines a year, it still well covers the R75 a month they charge

If they actually follow the proper procedure and their equipment is accurate, then I would pay. If a cop pulls me over and the speed they claim is the same as what I was seeing on my speedometer, then I'm going to doubt their equipment has been properly calibrated. But I typically don't speed. I'm fast off the mark and corner quickly, but I stay within the speed limits. The majority in Cape Town are slow in all respects though. Around here I'm lucky if I even find someone who is hitting 60 on the speedometer and most of them seem to be taking a nap at traffic lights, then need orders in triplicate before they pull away slower than an old lady with a walker. Unfortunately these slow-witted idiots also then tend to just go through the lights long after they've turned red. So they're all-round menaces.

They still need to have a warrant and show it to you. Otherwise they can threaten all they like, but cannot legally arrest you.

Got two fines recently on the R21 on the way back from Germiston to Pretoria East.
Still not sure where the trap is.............................anyone?
I do pay them so as not to sukkle renewing licenses etc.

There is almost always a camera at the R23 Benoni bridge.

I haven't had a speeding fine ever - other parking fines etc i do pay BUT then again i pay my SABC license too - so i don't think i would avoid paying fines unless it was for something stupid

Nope, and now that I've changed my SA drivers for a UK one, when I go back to SA I'll just say "what fines?"

Well in CT if you ignore the fine then they get the court to issue a warrant of arrest.

But this is also going to change because AARTO will be implemented soon countrywide which means traffic fines in CT will also become administrative fines.

Under AARTO they cannot issue a warrant of arrest.

In non-AARTO areas like Cape Town they only issue a warrant of arrest AFTER you have received a summons and have ignored the court date. The warrant of arrest is for contempt of court, not for not paying the traffic fine. There is no such thing as a warrant of arrest for an outstanding traffic fine.
