Now that Spotify has officially launched in South Africa, do you plan to purchase a subscription to the music streaming service?
 
I'd do it if Telkom adds them to their available services for their Lit Music package.
 
I don't even know what Spotify is, not going to bother finding out either.
 
I've started a trial, but it will depend largely on the introduction of a family plan (as they have in Europe and the US) and inclusion on Telkom's LIT.
 
If they offer a family subscription, yes. I'm trialling their premium subscription now, and so far so good. Will be seeing what it does in combination with Android Auto- and from a quick test this morning, it's really not looking good for Google Play Music at the moment.
 
Paying to stream music is for suckers.

Being able to 'own' a digital object is debatable, but to pay for something and not being able to even retain it - what a waste.

You're missing the point. The world has embraced the sharing economy and the general concept of paying much less to access a good or service over paying much more to own it.

You say paying to stream is for suckers, yet if I didn't I wouldn't be able to listen to even a fraction of the music that I do. Discovering it would be the biggest issue, but even the cost would be staggering. You may be content to listen to Youtube or own a small collection of albums, but millions of people prefer the freedom of listening to anything they want and the benefit of discovering music they otherwise wouldn't. And anyway, how much music can you buy permanently for R60? Very little.

Office 365 is another huge value option. R90pm (or R250-350 for an annual sub on OLX) for all the Office apps, always up to date, and 1TB OneDrive storage. An infinitely better option than paying R1.5-3k up-front for software that goes out of date and includes no online storage.

I recommend that you open your mind to the possibility that services like these could be a big step up for you.
