No I use a Lenovo 12" laptop, connected to a monitor for work at home. I take the laptop with me wherever we go.

My whole family uses desktops; 5 in all. They are 2nd hand Dell towers that I bought refurbished and they run on Debian and Ubuntu. No troubles and we maintain them ourselves. I do all my work; Mail, CAD, Word processing, Image editing and run old W$ simulation programs on WINE on my Desktop.

I prefer 64bit processors and at least 2G RAM. Graphic card upgrades are essential for gaming.

Ofcourse i do. At home I have a 8-core Ares gaming rig I built myself that I use for gaming, recording and editing.

Laptops are fine for the general masses, but cannot compete for high end usage, hence desktops will never disappear.

I doubt that Nasa will design their next mission to mars on a Crapbook Pro.

my 2c.

I have a number of laptops and desktops. One desktop is used to record video from my IP cameras and to store operating system isos and my backups.
The other desktop is a file server and stores my applications and TV series.
My prime laptop is for my day to day operation, email etc. Another laptop is connected to my TV and is used to play TV series. I don't use the TV for anything else.

At work I use a Dell laptop E6540.
At home for gaming my custom i7 gaming PC.
At home a i5 media server connected straight to my TV.

Still have a desktop at home. Just havent switched it on in more then a year

Do you still use a desktop PC at home or at work? If so, what do you use it for?
I have a few.
1 for work (modelling, simulation, documentation, design, research, etc.). Technically this is a laptop, but it is on its docking station 95% of the time and I use it as I would a desktop.

1 for home (some work, but mostly for games).

1 for server / data storage at home (file server).

Nope.

I use my laptop at work and home.
Docked at work to connect to monitors, keaboard, mouse, headset and network.
Docked at home to boot off a secondary drive and connect to peripherals there.

Yes, recently built a gaming/media PC for home. It's plugged into the TV and I just got a Steam Controller for it. I have a laptop for work, which I also use for writing, coding, etc.
